Anyone know of an app that will boost the output from the headphone jack? I'm not even sure if it's possible (ie, it's a hardware limitation rather than software). I like to listen to podcasts while mowing, and most podcasts aren't loud enough to hear over the mower.

I know this sound dumb but are you sure your volume is maxed? apps>settings>sound>volume>media

AudioBoost if you are rooted.
SoundBoost if you are not rooted.

Or you could get one of these: http://www.iasus-concepts.com/nt/amp.htm

Yeah, I use AudioGuru, so I know my media volume is set to max.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll give SoundBoost a try.

on advice from a friend I just ditched advanced task killer. if my phone was sitting for a while I'd pick it up and there would be 8 or 12 tasks running so I'd kill them. I was told to get and automatic task killer that will prevent tasks from even starting and saving battery even more. I saw several different flavors. I downloaded juice defender. is there a better auto task killer out there? anyone have any info on these kinds of apps?

Do you have nice headphones? That's important, too. If you have crappy ones and try to crank the volume to make up for it, you are going to some serious damage to your ears over time.

I haven't tried applanet. Do they have a lot of apps compared the market and amazon?

I have a pair of stereo bluetooth headphones that I use to listen to music at work. I can't use them when I mow because they constantly cut out (I think it's electrical noise from the mower engine), so I have a decent pair of ear bud headphones.

This is not an app. But this is the best 30 bucks I have EVER spent. Bluetooth FM transmitter. I love my stock stereo in my truck and didn't want an after market. This thing is crystal clear for music and calls. Simple pairing and setup.

All I know is it's dangerous to try to up the volume to overcome background noise. You should invest in some headphones that cover your ears and cancel noise to wear while you mow if you want to hear over the sound of the engine.
