I never tried Siracha until I saw this thread. Now it's my favorite sauce. Hope it doesn't go away...

Southern California city drops bill against Sriracha hot sauce plant
Quote:

Lawmakers in a Southern California city dismissed a bill on Wednesday that would have declared a popular hot sauce manufacturer a public nuisance due to smells that residents near the factory complained were sickening.

Lawmakers in the Los Angeles suburb of Irwindale had considered declaring Huy Fong Foods, maker of the fiery Sriracha sauce, a nuisance after residents near the factory complained that peppery fumes were giving them headaches and irritating their eyes and throats.

But at a city council hearing on Wednesday, three council members and Mayor Mark Breceda voted unanimously to dismiss the resolution.

"We have to keep employment in Irwindale. We have to expand. It's good for Irwindale. It's good for California," Breceda said.

Huy Fong Foods, in a statement that was read out at the meeting, said it had already upgraded the air filtration system ahead of this year's chili harvest.

I'm convinced this was all some sort of false flag/guerilla marketing campaign. Like all the internet buzz about bacon in the past year or two... viral marketing

Common sense in California?

Valentina, Tapatio or cholula shouldn't even be called hot sauce. They are weak sauce.

I never heard of Sriracha until a business trip in 2012 where someone was putting it on their pizza and another was talking about how great it was. So I never had it. Saw it once as an ingredient in a recipe but couldn't find it at the store. Guess, I'm gonna have to try it.

Valentina is mexican ketchup.

I've tried Sriracha several times and just can't get into it. Everyone else seems to love it.

It's been at Noodles & co. for years but in the past 6 months-1 year it seems like every fast foot place or restaurant either has it or a dish that has it.

I can eat this stuff from the bottle.

Yeah, even Subway has their customers fooled with their version of Sriracha. It's not real.
