Yup. When Michael McDonald was fighting I didn't miss much K-1. That dude was nails.

And the old days of Pride, to me, are still the best days of MMA and UFC will never be able to touch it. When Wandy was walking through people and was 225 pounds (I could give a crap if he was on roids at the time). Crocop was at his peak, Fedor, Randleman, Coleman, Page, Shogun, dude Pride was the shit.

The majority of people that I know that follow MMA now started following after the first season of TUF and that Griffin/Bonnar fight. They have no idea about the history of it all. That's one reason Forrest has such a following and people still think, moronically, that he's a top 205 fighter.

Silva made Griffin look pathetic. God that was funny. He just toyed w/ his ass the whole time.

Agreed I have stayed out of the mix as I am pretty new to MMA. I grew up boxing and wrestling. I used to spar with some guys that were into martial arts but we kick boxed. They taught me self defense moves to end confrontations but it would not be allowed in competition. I wish this type of fighting exsited when I was young but I am too old to play such rough games now. It is kind of funny because while watching they talk about guillotines, rear naked choke holds and triangles back in my day we just called it choking a guy out or cutting his air. It is a pretty cool sport and I enjoy watching it~

Yup. In the amateur ranks I see guys get caught over and over again by the simple rear naked choke. Yeah it happens at the elite level but it's like the main thing you see a guy tap out from at the lower levels. Without fail.

On Spike they show all kinds of fights, reruns and such. These guys nowdays are on a whole different level than what we were doing~

I have watched several of them. On a side note has Ken Shamrock ever won a fight? He has gotten his ass kicked in every fight I have seen him in.

yep he has won.:D i thought it was funny last night that they showed chuck beating mezger in pride, then said he went on to knock out overeem, then real quick like said and then got TKO'd by rampage BUT came back to the UFC and became the dominant 205er.ROFL

Liddell is a likeable guy and hits a ton. He also has been knocked out too many times. A fighter can only get shut off like that a few times and they seem to lose their chin. I like the guy but think he is way overrated~

Bas had no ground game. If you go by his own account, he didn't know how to sprawl for most of his career. He would just fall onto his back like a turtle and rope escape or try for leglocks. Plus, Pancrase had the no-striking-on-the-ground gentlemen's agreement when he fought there.

I believe Carwin has all the tools to beat Lesnar. He's freakishly huge and strong in his own right. He was a successful wrestler in college although not on the same level as Lesnar and he has much better stand up.

FWIW I truly believe also that Cain Velasquez will soon be the heavyweight champion and will remain there for an extended period.
