Any evidence that one can use to argue that Billick would be a superior option to Cowher is almost entirely emotional. The far more convincing logical evidence points in the other direction.

I'd be happy with any of those guys except Billick.

Billick

I absolutely hate the Reid or Gruden options.

I'm late to the party, but we should send him to all the BBQ joints. He'd love that

I agree with your assessment of Billick. Fair comments.

Have you posted your reasons about Reid and Gruden, yet? If so, can you point me to them or briefly summarize?

I wonder if winning a title with ND would improve our chances. I just keep thinking about what Clark said about a coach with a history of building winning programs and Kelly's done it at 4 schools (all different levels).

I'd say no.

Brian Kelly has proven that he can coach at any level. Whether or not Notre Dame wins or loses won't be a factor.

That said, I'd be surprised if he left for the NFL this year. He could build an everlasting legacy at Notre Dame, something that is extremely unlikely to happen in the NFL.

I don't like the lack of balance in Reid's offenses, and I also believe that much of his success, and the reason he has floundered the last few season is all about Jim Johnson.

I haven't seen anything from Gruden that he can successfully develop a QB, and would be very concerned that we'd end up in the same damn retread QB purgatory we've been in for the last 30 years.

While I'm not crazy about Reid, I really don't get the hate.

You're probably right. I'd sure kick the tires on that if I just fundamentally changed the way my franchise is run and needed to hit a home run with my first hire.

There's no hate. Reid's a very good coach. The question is if he can win a super bowl.

He probably needed to spend a couple of months at a I am not a scumbag liar camp.

With all due respect, in terms of visibility and history, trading Notre Dame for the Kansas City Chiefs is like trading a Ferrari for a Pinto.

Exchanging nearly a century of glorious, glamorized, winning tradition for half a century of a losing seasons with a disinterested and dwindling fan base does not compute.

Those are legitimate concerns, and I think that Gruden would be, by far, the biggest risk of the two. His reputation with QBs is something that should give everyone pause.

And while I appreciate 'zilla's comments about Gruden's week in Oregon, I'm not sure if that's enough evidence for me.
