Can't speak for the series, but the movie is decent. Mostly because it was as much a satire as a chick/teen flick. Really funny bits about the capriciousness of entitled teens. I still laugh at the sheer terror they experience when accidentally veering onto the LA freeway.

Plus, Paul Rudd.
BTW Paul has a funny story about the first time he met Alicia Silverstone. It was some fancy dinner at an upscale NY restaurant. The meal was on the hosts of the dinner, and Paul was like 'I'm getting my money's worth out of this experience.' Ordered the braised whole rabbit, ate it like a mad man.
Turns out, as we now know, Alicia is a hard core vegan, and she sat there watching him lay into this little bunny with gusto and never said a word.
