No. Just no. I cannot, in good conscious, recommend Maricopa. Way south. Not part of Phoenix. Cheap though and semi small town.

But by all means, check it out. It might be right for you. ****ed commute for all parties though.

Yea you don't want that IMO.

lewdog 05-16-2014 03:31 PM

Hey Dingle, do you know where either of you will be working or are you just looking at areas right now to get a feel for them?

Why Not? 05-16-2014 03:59 PM

Um, pass on that.

So pretty much live wherever you want as long as the commute isn't a pain? If we choose Phoenix what are good places in north Phoenix you guys would recommend? And so Scottsdale is a safe place just not the south side?

Well, my wife will be staying at home. I have an interview at PayPal at 101 and 202 connect. One at a place in Mesa, I've had a phone interview. So mainly in that southwest part of Phoenix.

Scottsdale is cool from Old Town on up. The principalities around Scottsdale are all great. Mid north is "OK". Going west it gets a bit rougher, and cheaper, but closer to Cards games (whatever).

Come on out man. As big as this city is, I meet KC transplants all the time. Just did last weekend at a house party. We were neighbors FFS. Just look at how many of us are here. I always felt it was big city Overland Park.

And when you do move and you have that pool; Aeration my friend. Night time aeration. You are welcome.

I'm telling you, Ahwatukee is the shit. At least check it out. Mesa is just a highway shot and not part of the standard rush hour traffic patterns. Honestly, I've never bitched about traffic here when I was commuting. I work from home now. As someone said, get that kind of gig. Phoenix is pretty techno. A lot of organizations support WAH.

Off I-10 (south) exit right on Chandler Blvd and follow that until you hit a 3 way stop. Take a left which will keep you on Chandler. If you go straight you will be on Ray Rd.

Anyway, follow Chandler till the end and take it all in. Greatest just before dusk as the sun is setting behind S. Mountain.

Ya I'll for sure check that out. I love that the mountain or foothill whatever is right there.

What's so bad about it? Wikipedia says Maricopa has higher household income of like 66k compared to 70k in Scottsdale.

Well, the $70K in Scottsdale is representative of the $30K millionaires referenced earlier. But as someone else said, there's a lot of money here too. Tons. But the multi-million dollar homes are usually bought through trusts and such, which isn't reported in those averages.

$66K for Maricopa may be true, but it doesn't show. And unless you are working there, it's an hour + commute to anywhere.

The rush hour traffic from Maricopa into Phoenix is just stupid. But, ironically, not bad going home.

Lol I feel like I'm being recruited. I'd work in north Phoenix. If you had to choose between Anthem or north Scottsdale which would you choose? Or some place else you'd recommend for safety first folks lol.
