That guy? The guy that was struggling late in the season and was put in a shitty situation by a HC that is historically know as one of the greatest chokers in the history of the NFL playoffs... Has he hung himself yet? |
In his interview with Petro before the season began, he stressed when talking about Smith that the key is he doesn't turn it over, and you can't undervalue that. He also admitted that everyone complains that he doesn't throw deep, etc, but it's a big deal when you don't turn it over.
So there's two ways to look at what he is saying: one, he is quite aware of what Smith is and is not, but he thinks that if he has a facilitator at QB, he can scheme around his weaknesses. He is likely overestimating his ability to do this, but that's likely what he is thinking. He's probably also burned by the fact that his end in Philly came in large part because Vick and co could not take care of the football. So it's ironic that we build this team to avoid turnovers yet give the ball away 5 times against Denver. Second, I think there is no doubt that if they find a better QB in the next few years, they will look to replace Smith. The problem is that whoever they find is going to need to be someone who fits his West Coast scheme. So not every QB is going to fit that bill. So I'm not sure where that QB is going to come from. I just hope that Reid realizes he cannot scheme his way all the way to a super bowl without actual elite talent to carry them through the tough moments... |

So many morons on here who said 1) Kubiak could not win Denver half of its games 2) Reid is inept (and would rather have a 4-12 record being led by some unnamed god-like coach equivalent to being the next Geno Smith)
So please keep perpetuating the stereotype NFL fans have on us Chiefs fans. |

All that matters to Reid is get to around the 8 win mark and the franchise/fans are happy.

A lot of the outside world thinks Arrowhead is in Kansas. And that our fans all have Mullets, Drive 3rd gen Camaros, and Live in Trailer Parks. |

I think the world knows one hell of a lot about Arrowhead and the fans. Other team's players always speak about how Arrowhead is one of the toughest places to play, and the decibel record speaks volumes to the world about the fan's awesomeness. So there is a recognition and perhaps a stereotype too. Perhaps "Loyal to a Fault" fits well..
What I DO get from folks outside of the Chiefs circle is, "Wow, how can you put up with having a team that does that shit to you year in and year out? At some point are you guys going to revolt?" After I shake my head and mention that there's only one common part to the 46 years on no SB wins, but no, we won't revolt any farther than flying a banner. Then the conversation usually moves into absentee ownership, and then I try to just shift the conversation to something more comfortable like politics, global warming, and world peace. It's not fun to talk football when your team isn't providing you with some ammunition in fan conversations. The saving grace is that two of my neighbor's favorite team is the Browns, so the thrashing I get is usually limited to when I'm at work. |
