Whoa... Nobody who wins 3 Super Bowls is a jag.

My point is that you can't bemoan Alex Smiths stats as empirical evidence of his suckage and then say Aikman is above reproach when he had Terrible stats his entire career.

This is what happens when you want to speak in absolutes and be able to quantify what is inherently unquantifiable.

For five years he was in the top 10 in YPA, completion percentage and wins.

The Cowboys were either second or third in total offense for four consecutive years during this time period.

Even though they had an elite rushing attack and defense, they were still in the top 10 in passing 3 of those 5 years, and in the top half in the other two.

He completed SIXTY NINE PERCENT of his passes one year, in an era where that was unheard of. Where 60 percent was considered elite.

And in the playoffs, when he absolutely had to show up during those Super Bowls, he was phenomenal. He had a quarterback rating over 100 in EVERY SINGLE PLAYOFF GAME save one during three Super Bowl years.

His playoff game averages during those runs:

244 yards, 1.8 TDs, 0.44 INT.

That might not SEEM like much compared to today, but the league leaders in passing yards and passing TDs averaged 252 yards per game and 1.8 TDs per game in 1993.

So people that just look at aggregate stats and compare them to the modern era are ****ing ignorant.

Clay deserves credit on this one. How the **** can you compare a guy to Troy Aikman when the most TDs he's thrown in a season is 23 and that's the ONLY time he's thrown over twenty? When his highest yardage total is less than 3,500?!!

How the **** can you compare a guy to Troy Aikman when career TD to Int ratio is 165-141?!!

Oh, because all of those stats BELONG TO TROY AIKMAN.

Boy he sure raped defenses.

Yeah. And when he was hurt, Jason Garrett and whoever else was backing him up put up just as good of numbers. It wasn't him. It was the system and the weapons and the line. What happened when Enmity Smith held out to start the 93 (I think) season? They lost until he came back. If Aikman was all you think he was, he could've won without him. Brady would have. Peyton would have. Rodgers would have. But not Troy JAG Aikman.

as a young lad troy awakened an intense appreciation deep within me for franchise quarterback play, and football in general

it was because of Troy's daring do that I discovered Joe Montana...emboldened by this I became latched to the Chiefs franchise

eight years later...i typed "chiefs forum" into google and began a vision quest to find another franchise QB...the kind i only briefly flirted with in my youth

LMAO

Steve Beuerlein completed a pathetic 49 percent of his passes in relief of Troy in 1991.

Bernie Kosar lost his only start the following year, and Jason Garrett threw for all of 61 yards in another game.

Granted the following year Rodney Peete and Jason Garrett did well, but your statement is not true.

It really is. It was a prophecy, foretold mear moments before the final unraveling. Alex was quoting Kid Rock, " what you hoes wanna do, one at a time or all at once I'll still roll through your whole crew!!"

as a young imbecile, I was didn't know anything about football, so I jumped on the Cowboys bandwagon. I saw Jimmy Johnson's system make Aikman look good and it awakened an intense appreciation deep within me for quarterback play that I didn't understand. That has carried over to cause my insane football takes to this day.

Aikman
Age 30-34

More or less prime years for a QB.

But from 1996-2000 Troy Aikman's rank of QBs with 1000+ passes...
19th in Passer Rating out of 31 qualifiers.
