defense mechanism

build a forcefield of negativity around self.. helps to minimize hope... and protects one better from potential disappointment.

Or they could just grow some balls.

Anyone who questions the anxiety Chiefs fans feel about the team's chances of advancing in the playoffs clearly hasn't followed this franchise's tormented postseason history.

I've been a fan for 45 years. From your immature posts I'm guessing that is longer than you've been alive.

FYP. You clearly haven't lived through some of the Chiefs postseason failures judging by your ignorant posts.

Or maybe you are just naturally a dumbshit.

Now that's a TALL order, especially against teams of the caliber that KC will be facing in the playoffs, but unless Andy Reid has more gadgetry stuffed in to his back pocket, that's pretty much how it's going to have to be

The only reason the Chiefs have to win the way you described above is because of the limitations of Alex Smith.

I'm only 43 and been a fan since 1987. I've been through the coach that shall remain nameless in the 90s debacles. Endured the goonther years. Cried with GPA. Survived the dark ages with Herm then Pioli cronies. Now living in the buffet line with Bubbles.

If a fan can endure that without Belchering himself. Well I'll say he's earned the right to be reserved about postseason potential when it comes to the franchise that wrote the book on mediocrity and playoff hopes with noise...

So hears the deal. I excited as anyone, nervous and anxious.... But if they do go full Chiefs in the playoffs I won't be disappointed... Why? Because Chiefs. I've lived it.

So go an wreck everyone a d bring this fanbase home a Lombardi Trophy. This city a d fanbase deserve it more than the Hunts do.

I'm as serious a fan as anyone for 45 years. I have experienced disappointment the same as you. But I am not going to let past disappointment rule my life today. You shouldn't either. Grow some balls, dude.

After reading this thread.....you are the one who lives in the past.....and has a fear of failure.

95 and 97 is not 2016.

I would take Smith over Bono and Grbac everyday of the week and twice on Sunday. :)

This theory makes no sense though. This is basically the same Smith he gave up premium draft picks for, and then later extended.

If Smith is so limited, surely Andy could have acquired a better QB in 2013, and then again, over the years.

I know that Smith is the easier target for you and others to blame. I also know that.. just like most/all QBs.. they do have limitations and weaknesses.

... but Alex is the guy Andy wanted.. and wants.. even after he brought in his old buddy Foles. Why? because Alex is doing what his HC wants.

This QB is simply an extension of his HC's will.
