Yeah, I'm re-watching DS9 right now and it was funny when O'Brien took like 10 of those tablets on vacation with him in a S2 episode. LMAO

I've really enjoyed watching some of the fan-created stuff that faithfully recreates the feel of the original, particularly Star Trek Continues. But I agree, updating the Enterprise for a modern audience doesn't bother me. I love the look of the ship, especially the bridge. They absolutely nailed that.

I didn't care for the look of the bridge because it is a completely different style. Back then many TV shows still created sets as if they were putting on a play. So, you'd get blander colors and a lot of empty space to frame the action. The bridge on Strange New Worlds is a modern TV set so it's busier, brighter, and more colorful. I did get used to it and it stopped bothering me because the show itself is great.

Really good first episode, though hopefully Pike comes back for the remainder.

My guess/hope is there will be a Pike/Una focused episode next week now.

Megatron96 06-16-2023 02:00 PM

Great opening episode. Only negative is now I have to wait an entire week to see E2.

Probably. Although it certainly was weird to have have the captain and first officer have so little screen time.

But when the third banana is Spock, it's okay. I can only assume that as the show progresses he'll become more and more the heart of it.

Well, that was pretty ****ing impressive for an opener! So are we going to see Spock ponn farr Chappel, because I feel like we are.

And damn does older Rebecca Romijn do it for me. Hnnnngg

greg63 06-16-2023 10:40 PM

First episode was intriguing! Surely that is not the last we see of Pike?

greg63 06-16-2023 10:50 PM

Every time the Captains Creed is resighted in the intro; when it come to the part were he says "To boldly go where no one has gone before!" I always think: Joy Behar???

Great start to season 2!
