It is weird. I was in Long Beach all last week, and when I left Tennessee Ike was getting ready to hit, and the price there was 3.99. When we landed at LAX, I noticed on the ride to the hotel that it was around 3.69, and never rose at all the whole week. Wonder if it's because Cali's oil comes from sources that were unaffected by Ike.

3.55- 3.70 here in Memphis. So Glad we didn't get it too bad like everyone else. It was 4 bucks for a while but we never ran out like Nashville. I was there for the Titans game it was crazy.

I checked the gas price website - the cheapest gas in the Chicago area is $3.70 - the most expensive - certain locations in Chicago and Park Ridge (northwest suburban Cook County) is $4.50.

That's a big swing. Here in Denver, prices range from $3.50 to $3.90 out by the airport (where it is always higher).

All the worst prices are in Crook-I mean Cook, County. But $3.80 by me (in DuPage County) is still pretty damned bad. And yes, I know our taxes are criminally high, but this goes beyond that. It's not like there are any shortages in this area.

Crude consumption was down a stunning 7% this year (compared to last year) during the four-week period that ended September 26.

Alot of that is based on the slow down of economic growth if I am correct. If this doesn't prove a recession is in bloom then nothing will.

I think they should produce and sale all they can while the demand is even what it is today. I only see the demand for oil decreasing in the near and distant future with the emphasis placed on alternative fuels, more fuel efficient vehicles and mo and continued exploration for oil by countries outside OPEC. But what do I know.
