All that means is the Chiefs want to do low base with a bunch of incentives which we already knew they were going to do.

I'd love to know how Buffalo can do any money work since they are not only up against this years cap but their completely ****ed in the ass next year.

They would have to trade Ed Oliver to get cap space this year...outside of restructuring what few contracts they have left that could be. It would only **** their cap next year even more though.

So they would take their defense that looked suspect last year, got worse this offseason and then make it even worse to be ****ed harder next year? That just..you're talking about giving yourself at best maybe the 3rd-5th best odds to win the SB to be completely screwed for 3 years.

They're not in a great spot for sure, Diggs cap hits get really insane after this year like 30+ million.

Salary cap is a joke and even more of a joke for the fans to worry about it. It isn't our money.

Teams do a lot of dumb shit when it comes to keeping talent away from teams like the Chiefs.

But theirs is like that after they have ALREADY moved money around, the only way they can remotely get out of that is to do shit like cut Diggs.

Buffalo isn't even #2 now...hell they might be #4 in competition to us so it seems pretty shortsighted. Last year was their all in year, they missed and now those repercussions are felt.

Buffalo needs to be worried about the Jets and Dolphins. Instead of trying to sign Hopkins so the Chiefs don't get him....they should be trying to shore up that defense and worry about their own division.

And they can easily move $ again next season if needed.

Eventually that bill comes due unless you wanna be the Saints who restructure 10 guys every year to not win anything.

Could easily see them not winning their division, Hopkins isn't gonna change much for them with that either.

The Chiefs can free up new salary cap space with any number of ways that have been discussed in this thread, so Breer trying to connect Donovan Smith’s signing as being a detriment to signing Hopkins doesn’t seem correct.

And the Bills roster isn't exactly young either. A lot of their top cap hits are guys getting close to the end.

Where is that Bills one who sucks the penis that comes around during playoffs, to enlighten us on their cap status?

Diggs too? Eeesh. Aint no one else left on that team making a big enough to check to move around.

Yeah, I just don't see how adding Hopkins to that situation is going to make it any better. Sure, you probably better your slim chances this year if you're lucky but you're going to have to tear that shit down even quicker.

That Bills team was built to win the SB last year, attract some cheap FAs to make one last run this year and then tear it down and hope Josh Allen can keep you respectable during a rebuild..

Now without that SB win they look like a team flailing to figure out what they are.

Buffalo's all in ended with 13 seconds and 2 quick passes by Mahomes.

That contract they gave Von Miller was the tipping point, they had to win the SB after that and they failed.

Miller and White will probably be cut next year

They'd save 6 mill cutting White, they'd actually be 9 mill in the hole to cut Miller, he's cheaper to keep..that's why his contract was the we have to win a SB move.

I get that logic. I just think he's gonna go to wherever he can get the most guaranteed money now, regardless.

Yep. That's exactly what the Von Miller deal said.

They were only saved from a humbling loss to Cincy by the Hamilton injury....they may have believed they had something left to take on KC but Cincy said "hold my beer and get back in line".

I still say the loss to KC in the last 13 seconds has had the kill shot effect

The best they can do is June 1st cut Miller and gain $6 million in cap space.

A Jun 1 2024 cut of diggs saves them $19M for the 2024 season. There biggest problems are going to hit for the 2025 season if/when they have to cut to make cap for 2024.

Without Diggs that becomes a middle of the pack offense with a declining defense...with Allens turnover issues getting worse and him always losing composure when things don't go right that could be a recipe for disaster.

Yeah but I think you can only use that designation on two players max.

If they lose Diggs, and their defense continues to decline, Allen will be running around way more than you'd like him to at this point of his career.

Bills are not winning anything until they get an actual RB. JA can't be the leading rusher in 90% of their games and still be a high power team.

So it does appear that whatever drama there was with him after the disappointing end to their season hasn't gone away.

If he does, I think they'll be disappointed with his replacement in the long run.

He's not the best, but they could do a lot worse.

I don't think he's attended an OTA going back to his last few years in Minnesota, he's just one of those guys.

It depends on where you look at NFL Transactions.

Spotrac.com has this - May 26 - DeAndre Hopkins released by Arizona (ARI), clearing $8.15M of cap.

But I think more of an official transaction indicator would be NFL.com Transactions and it still shows nothing, but they have been running several stories about his release.

So...I don't think anybody really knows.

But we still have a few more posts on here to go, so that is as expected.
