I just checked Independence in League 2 and it looks fine.

The only issue, and it's not a big deal, is that in my intraconference games (games against 3 of the 4 teams in other divisions) my home games are all against one division (Wichita, Cedar Rapids, Overland Park) and my road games are all against the other division (Austin, Clearwater, Fort Worth). It doesn't really matter at all other than aesthetics, so I wouldn't bother fixing it, and it's also possible that my own team's schedule is an anomaly anyway.

No, I designed it that way for simplicity. Next year you will host the and travel to the opposite divisions.

I noticed some of the teams have a bunch of home or road games in a row. (I have 5 home games in a row). That wasn't intentional, but since our teams don't really travel, I decided it wasn't an issue.

I do plan to factor in some kind of HFA, but don't know exactly how I will simulate that.

Building the scheduling algorithm was fairly challenging. The NFL has even more constraints they have to consider, such as number of home/away games in a row, the NY teams can't both be home the same week, mixing in non-Sunday games, network concerns, etc. Respect.

Reviewing my roster was painful. My team was ravaged by injuries and idiotic drafting.

I don't remember if I've ever mentioned this, but I used to work for the company that did the NBA's schedule. They had some algorithm where they also optimized the times of games to maximize the likelihood that there'd be a game of national interest in each time slot.

That group resigned and started their own company before I started working there, but I think they still do the NBA schedule today, and also several other leagues. I know they don't do the NFL, and I'm pretty sure they don't do MLB. They might do the NHL and I think they do (or did) MLS.

That would've been a fun project to work on, but I arrived on the scene about four years after they left.

Rats. I just remembered that my QB is Phillip Rivers.

Week One: Sam Bradford and the Dallas K-Swiss Tubes travel to Wichita to take on Donovan McNabb and the Potheads.

When Bert Bell was the NFL Commisioner, he used to lay out the schedule using index cards on his dining room table. Of course there were only about a dozen teams in those days and TV times were much less if a concern.

I have the following players for trade:

DE Chris Clemons (12 sacks, 44 QB pressures)
DE Charles Johnson (10 sacks, 32 QB pressures)
DE Andre Carter (11 sacks, 24 QB pressures)
OLB Sam Acho (37 tackles, 6 sacks)
MLB EJ Henderson (102 tackles)

I'll also move other players if you need a backup because you're trading a player at a position where you only have two players. This works both ways, mind you, because I only have 4 defensive ends.

Quoting this because I know someone out there needs a pass rusher!

I'm going to start perusing my various teams that I'm babysitting. I'll likely be in touch, even if you're a division rival to my core team.

Hammock Parties 01-03-2012 02:47 PM

Yeah, we are definitely division rivals. In fact, looking at that division, it's pretty much between us.

My schedule looks fine.

One unrelated issue I see is that every team has a 57 player roster and mine only has 56. I made all my draft picks so what happened?

One of the players slept with your wife so you cut him.

Idiotic drafting hit my team hard too.

It appears to have run rampant throughout the league.

Did you do a trade up at some point? I would think that different teams would have some different roster numbers at this point due to the large number of trades.
