BTW, I checked Bud's and the SR9s are going for $407. If you're going to spend that, IMO, spend another $100 and get a Glock or a Springfield.

Of course, if you're (Rabbi) able to, shoot the SR9, XD9, and G17 (and as many others as you can). For YEARS, I thought I wanted a Berreta 92FS for my first pistol.....until I shot it. I had all but made up my mind on getting that gun until I shot it.

Nothign 'wrong' with the gun etc, it just didn't fit very well in my hand, and I - personally - didn't shoot it well. I tried others, but fell in love / tore it up with my XD.

AK's are Piston...the way God intended guns to operate.

that's what I thought I remembered.

Is a drawback of DI a dirty/dirtier bolt carrier group etc? I think I remember reading once that one of the reasons AKs can run dirtier ammo is because of the piston.

...but I'm a novice on the subject.

Based on personal experience (well documented in this thread) I initially purchased a pistol mainly based on price, and within a few months purchased another based on actual quality and performance.

The first one I got (the Ruger) is now the only gun in the house that I don't keep loaded - it's in the case I bought it in and I keep trying to sell it, but nobody's interested.

I'm still waiting to start my new job so I can't do any thing just now, but how much you asking?

I paid a little over $300 for it about a year ago. Shoots fine, I've run no more than 200-300 rounds through it. It is bulky and has a long trigger draw, but it's easy enough to stage your shots so it doesn't really impact accuracy. The grip sucks, but I added a Hogue slip on which improves it dramatically. I'd sell it for $250 (with the grip), but I have absolutely no idea how we'd work out the logistics of shipping or what's involved. I probably won't be back in Missouri until June.

Frankly, I think you're better off saving your money and getting something else. But if you're interested, drop me a PM.

There's a picture of it in post 145 (Viridian laser/light NOT included :D ).

I have to ship my AR-15 to get a quad rail put on it; what's the best way to ship it? Should I seperate the upper and lower receiver?

What, are you a quadriplegic? Put the new rail on yourself. It's not difficult.

June would be good. I'll be working and have money to spend. Not a big deal, if you don't get it sold between now and then hit me up before you come down this way and make sure I'm still in the market (which short of a money issue, I'm always in the market for another gun).

Okay, I'll keep this in mind. I've had a couple of people express some interest, but they haven't exactly beat down my door over it. If I still have it next time I'm down I'll let you know - although it may require you to take a road trip to the wilds of Kirksville. But if that happens, you'll get to shoot the rifles.

Sounds good to me.

Posted this in the survival thread last night. Figured this was an appropriate thread for it as well, and a quick search didn't show it being posted yet. Sorry if I missed it and this is a repost.

Heh. Nice marketing gimmick, but I'm not paying over a dollar a round for ammo even for my AR, let alone an AK. I think my shitty Russian ammo will take 'em out just fine.

I got a couple of boxes of .45 as self defense loads. It's Hornady's Critical Defense round minus the nickel plated brass shell and green tip instead of red. I carry the CD anyway, and for the same price, why not?
