United States = Senegal without Mane

A lot of the players you guys are naming are over the hill. With Haaland there’s really no question, he’s at his peak and is dominating at the highest level of football.

Not coming home yet. But it might be...

Probably not, but it could....

He is finishing chances that are created for him by teammates. He's not the bus driver. Like I said, that's why Iceland is not at the World Cup. The best player isn't necessarily the best goal scorer. You can be a great goal scorer who doesn't score much if surrounded by players who cannot give you good chances to score. Lewandowski and Haaland are great examples of this comparing their club vs international resumes.

England should have zero World Cups if not for a fake goal awarded in the 1966 Final.

Very true, however I think the sample size for haaland is still yet to come and lewandowski has 70+ goals in 130 appearances. For comparison Messi has 94 in 170 appearances, that’s 50 more appearances, so that’s roughly the same.

What I’m saying btw is that I don’t think lewandowski is a good example cause he scored alot at the international level.

Lewandowski is just as over the hill as Messi is

My point is, Lewandowski scores a lot more often at the club level. His goal numbers at Bayern were otherwordly. So does Haaland obviously. Messi and Ronaldo were also a goal per game at the club level in their primes; but never at the International. I believe a large reason for this is the lack of quality around them in the midfield at forward. All four of these players are accustomed to playing with World class talent at their clubs but not their National teams. Meanwhile, Mbappe is surrounded by tons of talent on team France. He can easily score a goal per game for France.

Yeah I see what you’re saying about mbappe. If you put Ronaldo or Messi or lewandowski in his position they too probably have better international stats, that makes sense.

What are your thoughts on the US and our #9? Do you think we have the chance to develop a player like mbappe, Ronaldo, or Messi in the near future? Even Dempsey asked turner today in his interview about finding a #9 and then apologized, but I do feel like our team provides a lot more chances than normal teams, we are just missing that mbappe up top. :/

Japan up 1-0 right now, maybe it wasn’t all a fluke.

Eleazar 12-05-2022 10:28 AM

Perisic equalizes for Croatia. High class player who can still do it.

TripleThreat 12-05-2022 10:37 AM
