I didn't have a problem with a pop up.

Free Genie/2 Genie Minis/WholeHome service

Free Sunday Ticket.

$20 off a month for a year.

I'll take it.

Well, that lasted all of 6 days.

Tech comes out on Monday to install new equipment. Everything works great. Left the house around 1:00 today to go to a wedding, came home tonight and getting an error message 775 - something about not communicating with the satellite.

Talk to a Tech CSR, they step me through a bunch of shit, then tell me they'll have to send a tech out - first available is on Tuesday.

So no football tomorrow, no Breaking Bad, Dexter, Ray Donovan or Boardwalk Empire.

First serious issue I've had with DTV in the decade+ I've had service with them.

And because I have a Genie and two Genie Mini's, I have no TV in the entire house.

For two and a half ****ing days.

Call Customer Retention. Be polite, state your case, ask what they will do to retain your business.
Profit.

Warpath-If you get sunday ticket, ask them to give it to you online for free for the weekend.

Worth a shot.

This worked for me last year when a similar situation happened.

I think that is fair. You have been a loyal customer.
I should ask for more too. Been with them for 13 years.
But I am rarely anywhere else on Sunday afternoon. Kids are too busy to leave for the weekend.

Other than being confined to my office, this is pretty nice.

I didn't know if we wanted to start a new thread or not. I just got NFLST Max for free again. I told them since having my baby I can't afford to have the premiere package and get NFLST so unless I got it for free I can't afford it. And since the only reason I got DTV was for NFLST I'd rather pursue my cable alternatives and go to a sports bar if they can't give it to me for free. He couldn't find any offers or credits at first so I threatened to cancel right that second. I said either I get it for free or I'm done, politely. He talked to his supervisor and they gave me NFLST Max for free. It was harder this time because it was a guy but the three previous times I've had a girl and it was easy. I thought for a moment there that I should hang up and call back to get a girl but thought what the heck and went through with it. If you need any pointers I'll help. And I might be selling my Max password this season as well if my father-in-law doesn't want it.

I was just charged the renew for NFL st and it's like 40a month for 6 months. I called to have them cancel it and they offered 31.99 for NFL max. I still said no but I'll try calling sometimein the preseason to see if I can get it for a better discount.

Don't give up!

We are finally canceling directv. Threatened to do it last year, but we were in contract.

We are out now. Called them to cancel and they offered 4 months of showtime to keep me and that was it. Told them they could keep that and they replied well you received 150 dollars worth of credits last year, which was a blatant lie. I received zero dollars in credits last year. I didn't call in after last August and had no promos on the account since last June.

Set up disconnect at the end of the month.

Yea I did that too year before last and bought NFLST on my PS3... I was thinking it would work great with my 30mb up and down fiber internet...

WRONG... freezing screen..

I had to crawl back to DTV...

You will be back...

Iowanian 07-13-2014 09:49 AM

i told them I'd leave their service after more than 10 years and they said "OK" and shut me off. I had tried to get updated equipment and they wouldn't do it. When I cancelled they said something like "wow, that is really old, just send us the cards and get rid of the boxes".

Then a month later my phone wouldn't stop ringing and junk mail piled in with offers.

DTVs customer retention program is stupid. Treat new customers so much better than long term.

Dinny Bossa Nova 07-13-2014 10:12 AM

I cut off DTV just over a week ago. I figured I'd miss it, but it has been easier than I thought. I got sick of spending an hour on the phone every month explaining the new hidden other charges that appeared on the bill.

They have been calling 2 or 3 times a day. When I answer, I talk to them for a while then "put them on hold". 15 minutes later I take the phone out from under the cushion and hang up. I realize it's being childish, but I kind of like it.

Bastages.

Dinny
