BPA isn't just the player with the highest grade.

Positional value accounts for a lot as well.

A DE with a grade of 95 isn't as highly rated of a player than a 100 guard if you are just going by the grades. But if you look at the impact the position has on the field, the DE is worth more, which is why you would take him.

A 10 sack DE is worth more than any guard in the game.

His draft slot should show you why you don't use high picks on guards...

Not only no, but hell no. There were almost 30 pro bowlers in that class, and he was one in one of the least important positions on the football field.

I don't agree with this at all. Why exactly does a linebacker have to make 8 pro-bowl to be worth the 9th pick? The 9th pick isn't quite that valuable.

How's that? I already said that if it's at another position take him. This team has holes at everywhere

Do you believe a non pass rushing OLB is nearly as important to a team as a DE or LT or even a CB or a DT?

I'm a huge fan of Rivers he's outstanding in coverage and has a ton of talent but LB is a devalued position when teams pull productive starters out of the 3rd and 4th round.

If you redo that Draft it goes:

1. Michael Strahan
2. Willie Roaf
3. Dana Stubblefield
4. Drew Bledsoe
5. Lincoln Kennedy
6. Mark Brunell
7. Trent Green
8. Jerome Bettis
9. Robert Smith
10. Michael McCrary
11. Brad Hopkins
12. John Lynch
13. Brock Marion
14. Blaine Bishop
15. Darrien Gordon

It depends on who is still left on the board. With the 9th pick it is certainly possible that an OLB is the most valuable player still on the board. You aren't comparing Keith Rivers to an elite cb prospect, you are comparing him to Leodis McKelvin.

I see only two true blue HOFer out that bunch, are good but shouldn't be mentioned in the same vicinity as being a HOFer. Lincoln Kennedy? Shit now that's R-tarded

You are putting way too much stock in the term "HOFer". Do you really think a Hall of Fame closer is worth more than 5 time all star starter who wins 220 games?

Do you really think that Will Shields has impacted more games and more outcomes than even say, Ty Law, who is by no means a HOF DB and went to a fraction of the pro bowls?

Ray Guy should be a hall of fame punter. I don't give a ****. I wouldn't take him over Jamaal Charles if I had to draft between the two.

Yeah, he was only a 3 time pro bowler in a more difficult position to play where every mistake is compounded.

Different type of impact, Will Shields had a hand paving the way for Priest and LJ for 1500+ yard and Trent Green's career as a damn good QB while he was here. When Shields left everything went to shit at both phases of the game. You are really taking for granted how valuable he actually was.
