I've never seen so much hype around a 5th round QB.

There are plenty of good reasons for Orton to start. 1) Looking like a trainwreck in 2012... that's going to hurt our chances to get free agents this offseason, especially our own (Carr and Bowe -- two HUGE free agent signings). 2) whether people acknowledge it's important or not, selling tickets is a vital piece to giving our team enough money and getting blown out the last few games screws our chances to sell season tickets in 2012. 3) Sorry, but I believe if Orton pieces together a few solid games, that is the only way Cassel can fall out of favor.

If Stanzi started the last 3 games, they'd sell more tickets for next year, win or lose than if Orton wins all 3. Don't kid yourself.

Even if Stanzi played like leaf?

Listen to the radio...the "average" fan wants to see Stanzi just as much, if not more, than the vocal group here.

It's like getting an expensive looking toy for a bargain price and never putting batteries in it to see if it works. Not knowing hurts even worse than finding out it doesn't. Fans are entitled to see that before their team spends valuable draft picks on the next QBOTF.

Okie_Apparition 12-17-2011 12:03 AM

Michele Bachmann wants to see Stanzi also

It's not that we all want to see him, hell I echo this sentiment in my dreams/nightmares! It's just so discerning that Haley didn't jump to start him and Romeo isn't jumping to start him, I mean - if Stanzi's doing any good in practice you have to think he would've played by now.

What is he doing or not doing to not get a vote of confidence from zorn, Bill, todd and romeo?

I can not believe they don't let him play because they are afraid he'll play well....

I tend to see Pioli's fingerprints on this. Yes Pioli's draft included Stanzi, but Cassel is his prince. Stanzi made the mistake of playing better than the rest of the QBs in pre-season. That, IMO, sealed his regular season fate, because they didn't want Cassel to feel threatened and lose his magnificent playing abilities.

I highly doubt that, Pioli as much as anyone can appreciate getting a young no namer some play time to see if he's got another brady over bledsoe scenerio.

I don't then why didn't he sign a better vet to backup Cassel? That's because any quality veteran backup can outplay Cassel any day of the week.

When the Chiefs signed Orton, I pointed out that statistically he's actually even worse than Cassel.

Even if Orton was 100% healthy--which he isn't--the Chiefs know what they have in him.

This is the time to find out what they have in the players they DON'T know about.

Not playing Stanzi is short-bus reeruned. And if I were a Chiefs fan I'd be absolutely ripshit.

Except they are nearly identical statistically.

Cassels best year with the #1 WR corp in NE - 16 327 516 63.4 3,693 7.16 21 76 11 5 89.4

Ortons second best year in Denver and 3 less games than Cassel - 13 293 498 58.8 3,653 7.34 20 71 9 1 87.5

I'll take Orton over Cassel any day.

Crennel is auditioning for the HC job. He is not going to start a rookie QB for 3 games.

.

Not the last three seasons, which are the only ones that really paint a realistic picture.

Besides, just watch them play. Orton actually has ability to throw down the field. Cassel does not.

BossChief 12-17-2011 01:22 AM

You know whats sad panda?

Most of OrangeMane didnt like Orton because they felt he didnt throw the ball down the field enough.

After years of Cassel, we think of it as a massive upgrade in that category.

It is easy to sit here and say that, but for the people whose job depends on winning treating a regular season game like a preseason game isn't quite as easy.
