Alex Smith, once the whistle snaps is an average football player. The professional that is Alex Smith, as a leader, and off the field, as a family man, is a phenomenal human being, and I have the ultimate respect for him. He has overcome a lot as a professional football player that many players would not of overcome. Is he great? Absolutely not, he is however, resilient, and someone that I would be proud for my son to see as a role model to model his life after.

Aaron Rodgers, is the best qb on the planet. Hes a dick head douche bag off the field. Hes a hell of football player on it....I don't want my son modeling himself after him. put that in your list number 10 that there is more to liking someone in life than how they perform in a game.

Anyone who tries to make professional athletes into role models for themselves or their kids is an idiot.

idiot post, is idiotic.

Clearly your reading and Comprehension skills need work. Its clearly the off the field stuff, you know, being the family man, the way he has handled adversity off the field, as well as on the field as a reason I respect him. Sorry this is so difficult for you. You will figure it out some day. You are using your personal dislike of a screen name, ie Maverick because you sure as **** don't know me, and if you ever met me in person, we would get along, but I digress as a way to judge what I say. I know that when I feel a dislike towards a posters screen name, that I don't really pay attention to what they are saying, and I just find the first and most adamant point that I can rip them for. But, if you can get over yourself for a second, and actually re read what I wrote, maybe you would understand that I didn't say that I want my son to find the BEST PLAYER on the planet, to model himself after, but, considering that both my family, my dad was a minor league pitcher, my mom was a fast pitch softball pitcher in high school, I played college football ran track, and played basketball in college, and my wife was a soft ball player, as her father was an Olympic speed skating attemptee, he in my opinion, will be into athletics. I myself considered Jerry Rice, Will Clark, Joe Montana as players I respected, and looked up to. But you go ahead, you are so much better than everyone else. Please tell me how to parent some more.

How sad is it that I would let Herm all but run the drafting war room?

He wasn't all that good at picking Dline, but the majority of the rest of his picks speak for themselves.

To say coaches are going to defeat it is like saying " Coaches will figure out that bunch formation everyone and their mother uses on 3-6 or shorter".

It's an alignment and like all alignment, there are strengths and weaknesses. Additionally, there are endless amounts of variation with the formation and personnel which when coupled with the endless amount of route concepts/run philos, make for a nightmare.

Agreed. However, it did it stop those teams from attending different "college" clinics in the off season - Or it did it stop NFL teams from traveling to Alabama, Ole Miss, Stanford, A&M, etc, to talk with their coaches.

During the playoffs, Green Bay was completely caught off guard. They had no idea how to stop the 49ers offense.

Edit: Sorry that I missed "beaten this horse to death" conversation - I am not here all the time. :D

Actually, we know nothing of the sort. The 49ers came within OT of doing it. We won't know a damn thing until they have actually played the games.

No worries. I gave some thoughts in a pistol thread started by Direckshun that I'm sure you can find.

Sorter 08-02-2013 02:54 PM

Also, quite a few pro, college, and HS coaches, as well as personnel guys attend quite a few clinics to learn and bounce ideas.
