  • Buffalo - Dex does nothing
  • Denver - http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-h...-18-yard-catch - 18 yard catch on a critical 4th quarter drive with 3:30 to go. Terrific back shoulder catch
  • San Diego - 11 yard gainer putting the ball on the 5 yard line with 1:30 minutes to go (setting up Bowe TD)
  • Denver (game 2) - 28 yard pass and diving catch (http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-h...ctacular-catch) with about 2 minutes left on a critical drive
  • In the final drive of the game against San Diego game 2, he had a 14 yard gainer to set up a first down with 3:30 minutes to go

So out of those 5 games, in 4 of those games he had a first down in the most important drive of the game. All of them were over 10 yards. 2 of them were circus catches.

No, he was not the elusive YAC receiver we thought he was. But he became a really solid possession receiver who came up really, really big in some big situations late in the season.

He was never a threat unless as a PR which didn't come to fruition until Toub came here.

Wooohooooo garbage time

The Chiefs were down by 10 points and were on the 50 yard line with 4 minutes left in the game. They score a TD in under a minute or two, and they are down by 3 points with about 3 minutes to go. That's hardly garbage time.

Dexter was barely used as a punt returner in the past.

And those examples I showed you above showed he was a reliable 4th quarter option. No, he's no Dwayne Bowe. He's not Wes Welker. He's a solid hands receiver who can be a solid but unspectacular #3 slot receiver and a terrific #4 option. Saying he didn't bring anything to the table as a receiver is a big understatement.

Just great...well be stuck with Avant

@TerezPaylor: I’m told the #Chiefs indeed have interest in former Philly WR Jason Avant.

O.city 03-10-2014 06:05 PM

He's better than dex

I've always like Avant. If you like good hands then he's your guy. He has some of the best in the NFL.

Avant to replace DMC offensively. And drafting a real WR. I'd take it since he'll be cheap as hell.

Don't know a single coach that doesn't.

Urc Burry 03-10-2014 06:10 PM

Avant is an upgrade and cheaper. I don't see the big deal. I don't think this really effects the likelihood of drafting a WR either

Well, Dexter brings more special teams versatility, a little more elusiveness (even if not elite), and is a hell of a lot younger. But Avant gives you a better pure possession receiver at a cheaper price. I think it's a great move. But they still need a vertical threat and a true YAC slot receiver.

O.city 03-10-2014 06:11 PM

Dexter is not elusive. At all

Can't say that about anyone we've got now...
