On the flip side, he has a very large head.

I think his athletic ability is similar to Marcus Smart but isn't nearly the polished player. Although his shot is better.

Selden is not even in the same realm as quickness goes. Strength? I'll accept that.

Wayne's head is far superior so we can call it a wash, I guess.

I'm not sure hes any slower than Smart. he kept up with Smart on defense. But Smart definitely plays the game faster than Selden.

Selden is very quick. He just seemed slow compared to Wiggins.

I think next year, he will appear to be much faster 1) because Wiggins won't be there to compare to, and 2) he'll be able to make decisions much more quickly, which makes him seem quicker.

Yes. Raw ability is there. Just needs the opportunity, which he'll get next year. Another year of developing his game will be huge.

Smart's defense is on a different level and he can get to the rim at will. He's also a much better playmaker and plays with a ridiculous level of intensity (while Selden's energy level was very inconsistent). Selden has shown flashes of being able to do all of those things well, though. That's why he would have been potentially a 1st round pick this year.

Selden was a blue chip recruit for a reason. He is a freak.

I didn't chart all of it all or anything, but I don't recall Smart getting to the rim when Selden was guarding him. That's where I got that he has comparable quickness.

I agree that Smart's defense, particularly his anticipation, is far and away better than Selden's, but Selden's on the ball defense is pretty dang good.

To me, though, Selden's biggest problem is that he didn't show the want to for smoking some chump and getting to the rim. Hopefully he can reflect on what Wiggins was able to do, and apply it to himself. Hopefully he can take some initiative and demolish some dudes and get himself paid (after he wins the national championship).

Was. The guy we saw in the all star exhibitions attacking the rim ferociously was the guy who shied away from contact on three different drives Sunday. He needs to drive hard all the way and convert those. Maybe he was tired or maybe he was nervous. Hopefully next year he gets back to being the beast at the basket.

Yes, sometimes it just takes time for some skilled guys to reach their potential. We're lucky he's going to be doing it at KU next year.

This. I'm excited to watch him next year. If he can get more aggressive off the bounce and continue his good shooting, he can be a man machine.
