Depends. Did you use a fist or your tongue?

Obviously there was only one way to handle that situation....

So to me the story still rests on if she was actually going to punch him unprovoked or not. I don't think that's really clear.

This is key, and it's highly subjective. We'll never know the truth. Would be nice to hear the interaction.

I hesitate to step into this mud but...OK. I've got a feeling, and it's been bugging me from the first moment I saw that video, that the first contact between these two isn't in said video. I think they knew each other, maybe just through interaction that night but maybe longer.

I just don't think the situation escalates that quickly with two total strangers vying for the same bar space. I think they were headed to the bar together, or one followed the other (and I think it was him) to continue a dispute that was already brewing.

None of that really changes anything, but if we're taking sides here, I've always been and will continue to be among the "You just don't hit a woman" crowd.

The "just don't ever hit a woman under any circumstance" idea is a noble one, but not really realistic.

I'm for avoiding physical confrontation if at all possible, I should say that before I go any further. I have to wonder what kind of women these steadfast gentlemen have spent all of their time around. Some of these women are big and aggressive. Not every male on the planet is 6'3 225 lbs of solid muscle with a 445 lbs bench like the average CPer. If some "big boned" hog beast starts wailing on you for no reason is it your responsibility to run away just because she doesn't have a Y chromosome?

If you can't check a bitch with your words, you need to step yo game up.

Maybe we should ask the bearded hipster who did nothing. Like that was a big surprise.

Actually, you have it backwards according to the legal definition of assault, as was taught to me in Pre-Law club back in college.

http://legal-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/assault , defines assault as:

"Generally, the essential elements of assault consist of an act intended to cause an apprehension of harmful or offensive contact that causes apprehension of such contact in the victim.

The act required for an assault must be overt. Although words alone are insufficient, they might create an assault when coupled with some action that indicates the ability to carry out the threat. A mere threat to harm is not an assault; however, a threat combined with a raised fist might be sufficient if it causes a reasonable apprehension of harm in the victim.Intent is an essential element of assault. In tort law, it can be specific intent—if the assailant intends to cause the apprehension of harmful or offensive contact in the victim—or general intent—if he or she intends to do the act that causes such apprehension. In addition, the intent element is satisfied if it is substantially certain, to a reasonable person, that the act will cause the result. A defendant who holds a gun to a victim's head possesses the requisite intent, since it is substantially certain that this act will produce an apprehension in the victim. In all cases, intent to kill or harm is irrelevant."

I am not taking up for the player here, because we don't yet know all the facts, just trying to point out the difference between "assault" and "battery" as defined by the law.

Assault: the woman first verbally threatens him and shortly thereafter balls up her right hand

Battery: kneeing him in the balls and then punching him with her left hand

It will be interesting to see how the law will interpret his responses to her actions.

You could have read a few more posts and saved yourself the time it took to make this one.

Not tryin' to be a dick....Just sayin'

All BS aside, do you think he was justified in what he did?
