The Dallas Cowboys selected Dez Bryant with the 24th pick in the 2010 NFL draft, and the Denver Broncos selected Tim Tebow 25th. Ordinarily, that would mean Tebow should get paid a little bit less than Bryant.

But Tebow apparently wants more money than Bryant, and that's why he wasn't there when the Broncos' rookies reported to training camp today.

Ed Werder of ESPN reported on NFL Live that the holdup on Tebow's contract is the request from agent Jimmy Sexton that a premium be paid to Tebow because he's a quarterback. Sexton wants Tebow to get a bigger signing bonus, higher base salaries and more money overall than Bryant is getting from the Cowboys.

Werder reported that Tebow and the Broncos are close to getting the deal done, but in the mean time, coach Josh McDaniels has called Tebow and expressed disappointment that Tebow didn't report with the rest of the rookies.

"You're missing time and you can't afford to miss it," McDaniels told Tebow, according to Werder. "You're not going to get these snaps back."

Orton played a good game today. Maybe 2nd year in the system is something.

Denver did better in the second quarter and was only down 2 points at half.

Detroit could be decent this year. I was surprised how much Vanden Bosch and Suh improved their DL and how much Stafford improved.

Sure if Clady, Champ Bailey, and Dumervil were playing they might not have looked as good but they were still impressive.

I mean, there was a team, a Josh McDaniels team, whose starters were getting blown off their home field 13-0. But did they give up? No. Did they falter? No. They looked across the field and saw the Detroit Lions looking at them. They dug down DEEP & said, "We're just as good as these guys! We are every bit as good as the Detroit Lions!" And they fought, and they scratched & bit. And they almost tied the game. And now every rival AFCW fan is forced to admit something they were afraid to face - that the Broncos stand a very good chance of being just as good as the Detroit Lions this year. What we saw on the field yesterday proves to one & all that... maybe Denver doesn't have the talent of the Lions, maybe they are saddled with Josh McDaniels as their coach... but there is now every reason to believe that they have the guts and the gumption to go step-for-step, play-for-play with a team like the Detroit Lions. Look, folks, the Lions went 2-16 in 2009. Denver may not equal the record of Detroit, but they have the heart to come pretty damn close.
