I shot a VERY unsexy 102 this morning. So I clearly need to change my role on the course. I think this could be be by the end of the week...

I saw some Nickels at a local driving range a few months ago. Snagged out the 7-iron and hit some shots with it. Thought about buying them and sending them off to him. The sweet spot was quite a bit smaller than my Eye 2s, but I've always liked the ISIs even though they are a bit unusual looking. I've thought about buying a vibratory tumbler from Harbor Freight and trying it on sets of my own, as I have everything else to do general club repair, save for a loft/lie machine. |

Calcuttas are so much fun and you can make some solid cash.
Last year in a local 4 ball we were 2 back going into the final round, calcutta 2nd day is used for flight situations but even slate day 2. So we're in championship and we slow play the bidding but a few old money bags whi we grew up playing with new us and kept trying to outbid us. We ended up going for like 500, but there was like 3 grand in the pot. We end up shooting 66 day 2, win by 1 and pocket some coin. It made up for us getting ****ed the year before |

See why this beautiful blond golfer is breaking the Internet
HOLY COW! She is smoking hot!...:p....:whackit:
http://nypost.com/2015/07/14/college...swing-in-golf/ There is more to Paige Spiranac than her collection of stunning Instagram photos, but it’s the reason the golfing beauty is breaking the Internet. Spiranac recently graduated from San Diego University, where her college team won the Mountain West Conference Golf Championship. The girl from Monument, Colorado, has the swing to match the hype surrounding her. The self-confessed fitness addict has her eyes set on earning her spot on the LPGA Tour alongside the best female golfers in the world. Despite only just finishing her university degree in communications, the 22-year-old has 85,000 followers on Instagram. After one day on Twitter, she already has more than 1,100 followers. Here’s why: Spiranac first became a star in the United States when her college golf team’s trick shots video went viral. The SDSU women’s golf team trick shots video on YouTube has more than 1.5 million views. Spiranac was also an elite junior gymnast, training 38 hours a week to make the USA’s Olympic team, but decided to focus on golf. “I absolutely love golf. It totally beats doing back handsprings on a 4-inch (balance) beam and defying death,” she once told The Gazette newspaper in Colorado Springs. Last week she won the Colorado Women’s Golf Association Match Play Championship at Raccoon Creek Golf Course and is continuing to build up her rankings points to book her spot on the LPGA Tour. https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hp...67253241_n.jpg https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hp...05158097_n.jpg https://scontent.cdninstagram.com/hp...39733373_n.jpg |

K-Stater - Robert Streb is the in the clubhouse at -6 66 with Retief Goosen tied for the lead. Charl Swartzel, DJ and Paul Lawrie still on the course at -6. Jordan Spieth just bogied 13 to go to -5. Tiger at +5 thru 12LMAO
|
DJ in at -7 65 for the Clubhouse lead, while Spieth birdies 18 to finish at -5 67
|
Spieth is damn good. Rooting against him is tough.

The finish of the 2nd round is on ESPN right now. The wind is blowing 30+ mph. Brutal conditions. The wind is blowing the balls around on the greens.
|
The officials are having a debate about whether the 11th hole is playable because guys can't mark the ball. Announcers debating whether they should stop play because the wind is just too much.
EDIT: And they're suspending play due to the wind. Players sent back to the clubhouse. Brutal. Some comical wind action on the greens though. |
Oosthuizen gets the shaft. This ball ended up blowing 6 feet on the other side of the hole.

They cut the greens way too short and the balls are blowing all over as a result.
We played Turnberry in sustained winds of 40-45 mph with gusts of over 60, and it was ****ing brutal, but because the greens were cut to a sensible length for a links course it was playable. |
Monday finishes suck balls. Would rather see them play 36 tomorrow.
|
After about 10 hours they're back out and playing again. Still windy though.

Went from the ISIs to Titleist 704cbs which were mediocre to X-20 Tour to X-22 tour. I have the X-22s fitted to me so that is a barrier to change. The oddest part of fitting was I'm 6'1" and had always thought I needed upright clubs. Turned out with -3.25 deg lie. |
Is anyone watching the American Century Championship?
|
So, getting ready for the calcutta tonight, we tossed up a 64 in a 2 man best ball, with a bogey (****ing 3 putt)
Looked like we were tied for the lead in champ flight when we left. Should be a good day tomorrow |
Best-selling is your friend. And wow, the 10th was the "worst ball" hole (all the way to the hole) and that was a hoot.

I used to have a Zing 2 lob wedge. That thing was a monstrosity. I don't think I ever hit that club well. I had an ISI S2 wedge for a while too, but never much cared for it, but back then I hung way too far back on my right at impact and just skyed everything. |
I watched today to see if Token Woods would get to the 18th bridge and wave farewell to the game.

So I wish him the best, and I hope he finds a way out of this funk and kicks some ass. |
Tiger isn't a great ambassador for the game IMO, but I do think that he's the most important golfer in history for what he represented.
It's funny, because I always used to say that his swing would never hold up as he aged because it was too violent. Now that it has finally come, I still have a hard time believing it has actually happened. All told, he really should have never changed the swing he had with John Anselmo. In his pursuit of greatness he tried to perfect that which cannot be and cost himself years of productivity as a result. And now he'll never achieve his goal. It's a great example of irony. |
Quote:
THAT being said, I've always wondered what role, if true, any PEDs played into it. I don't recall there being any proof that it was true, but who knows... I still think he was a great ambassador. He really helped draw a lot 'more' interest to the game. It's never hurt, but think added some octane to the fuel. |

#1) He hurt his knee at the 1997 PGA. I remember watching it live and you could tell that he ****ed himself up, but he played it off like it was nothing. That knee was never the same after that #2 (which plays into #1) When he wanted extra distance out of his drives, he developed a move where he would snap his left knee to get his body to snap through the impact zone faster. Over time, that action degraded the structural integrity of his knee, which only led to more knee surgeries and injuries #3) His swing as a teenager, which was good enough to win the US Am *3, and the Masters by 12 shots, had a much higher swing plane and utilized vertical leverage in addition to his tremendous body rotation. When he went to Harmon he flattened his swing (he really started this in '98). It resulted in his best golf, but it also wasn't a change that he really needed to make and it hurt him on the back end of his career. Golfers with more upright swings, like Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson, age better than golfers with flatter swings because they don't put nearly as much stress on their back and they aren't solely dependent upon rotational flexibility for the depth of their arc. So, while he made himself slightly better in the short term (he was always so talented he could have won with any swing), he cost himself years on the back end. A good counterpoint is Phil Mickelson. His swing now is no different than it was 20 years ago (Harmon really didn't change anything in his swing). Consequently, his ball striking is pretty much as good as it always was. |
Quote:
He was pretty athletic at Stanford but his body did change rapidly a year after turning pro. Jim Colbert on 810 said all but yes he he did among other players. Don't know if was sour grapes as he said Woods was pretty distant to most the pros and senior pros. He did say he was best in the world and busy being that. Also that he would never catch Jack because his swing was solid but very strenuous on the back. Also though was big mistake firing Butch. |
I miss good tiger

Lot of guys going low already this morning. Gonna be an interesting day.

Dustin Johnson choking in easy conditions.

Couple comments on the 'Open'.
1) When did they get the gall to just call it THE 'Open'? I remember when Watson was winning them, it was called the British Open. Because, ya know, there is more that 1 Open. Just kinda gets under my skin, like the TPC being renamed to 'The Players'. 2) Who the hell really wants to play that course? I get all the history and respect. But really, 50 degrees, rainy and 40 mph winds? In friggin' July? What a shit hole Scotland is. I can think of 500 other courses I'd rather play. 3) Best thing about this tournament is it's 5 hours ahead. Like Wimbledon, it's nice to get up and watch in the morning with coffee. Now I know how the west coast guys feel about Sunday morning football. 4) Oostie is my pick... |
When's the last time an amateur led a major? Especially in the 3rd round. Spieth has crawled up to tie, but still, that's pretty impressive.
Padraig Harrington making a run too. Haven't heard his name in a while. |

2) Me! Looking at it right now, it's BEAUTIFUL. Compared to the ****ing bullshit 100+ degrees I've suffered through a couple/three times a week for the last many weeks, and the ****ing sticky-ass humidity, I'd be more than happy to need a sweater-vest for a change. 3) No comment, no real opinion either way.. 4) I'm really enjoying watching Dunne. Might not win, but it's fun to see a young man like him compete... What I bolded) You can **** the **** off my friend! Obviously you've never been to Scotland! IOW, a good rule of thumb is you only stay in the south of England long enough to land and get a rental! Scotland is not just awesome, it's ****ing totally awesome! The people there, like northern Ireland, are simply wonderful! And their countries are as beautiful as their people! |

I always really enjoy this tournament no matter where it is. It's different than the other majors and presents a more old school challenge to the golfers, I think it's great. |
Spieth, once again, begging every ball the whole way. So annoying. **** this dude.

I'll say again, if I never see another day over 70 again in my life, I'll be fine with that! I'll compromise a bit, but nothing over 80 or I'm grumpy! As for Austria.... If if happen to to there again, I'm going to shred my passport and ask for political asylum! |
One more round like today from Spieth and he'll be 3/4 of the way there. Crazy. Too bad I have to work tomorrow.

I thought Oostie would win given how he dominated 2010 and he damn near pulled off The US, but I'm afraid Spieth will take it again. He has to be the betting fave at this pt esp with as shoddy as Oostie has putted.
Rooting hard for Day. Dammit, the guy DESERVES one if any player does. |
Paddy with 2 birds and a share after 2.

Dunn... That poor kid. He bogeyed one when he came up short of the bern on with his wedge, resulting in the bogey.
On two he sliced terribly right, hit a provisional terribly right, then hit a second provisional a little less right. Poor dude. |
Luckily, he found his original on the practice green.
|
Man, I wish I could be at home watching this. Trying to stream on my phone but it's not working so well.

On the back after a couple miraculous pars to keep us in it, one by myself and one by my partner, I birdied 13, parred 14, birdied 15 to cut it to 1 with 3 to play. Then, the wheels fall off, they par out, we miss 2 3 footers for par on 16 and 17 and bogey 18 blowing in with a 68. They shoot 65, get in a playoff with the two guys in the group behind us who were older than us in high school and always took our miney when we were young (we thought we finally had these ****ers beat) as the throw in a 63 along with a 62 two groups ahead of us. So I lost 2 150 dollar bets, lost the calcutta and the tourney, in the last 3 holes. Seriously, **** this game. |

Helluva putt by ZJ on 18 to get to -15.
|
Man and Leishman drills an 8 footer for par to remain up one.
|
Speith comes through
|
Spieth is the best putter in the world, but his putting from 20+ feet is like having a BABIP of .450. It's amazing, but there is no way dropping those bombs is sustainable.
|
Spieth from deep to move into a tie for first.
|
Leishman hit a nervy wedge into 18. 16 is going to win outright.
|
I don't understand why Day and Spieth didn't hit their 3 woods on 17. Not nearly enough club for either of them.
