Yeah, sounds like getting third place was an accomplishment in itself. |
Bug,
Here you go: Clint Bowyer wins NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Toyota/Save Mart 350 race http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2012/0624...er_gb1_576.jpg |
Kenseth is leaving Roush at the end of the year and will be replaced by Stenhouse Jr.
|
I think if I can make a sweeping generalization, a lot of Jack Roush's problems are well known in the industry. Roush has always struggled to find sponsorships for their teams. His sponsorship packages are overpriced and he refuses to negotiate.
The three teams in Sprint Cup and two in Nationwide do not have full primary sponsorship deals. Carl Edwards has a few dates TBA. Roush also has similar problems with their drivers’ contracts. I understand Ford contributed substantially to Edwards’ contract negotiations. I've heard Matt was the one who left Jack and has already signed a contract with Joe Gibbs Racing. If that is true, my guess would be that Matt moves to the No. 20. Logano is in the final year of his contract and his status remains unresolved. Roger Penske move to Ford next season has led to rumors that Penske wants Ricky Stenhouse Jr., since Roush is having problems securing sponsorship for Stenhouse's debut in the No. 17. Here is an example - Jeff Burton drives the No. 31 Caterpillar/Wheaties Chevrolet Impala for Richard Childress Racing. Matt Kenseth, who is ranked No. 1 in Driver Standings, is without a primary sponsor. Too funny. Often, top NASCAR drivers avoid Roush/Fenway like the plague. Quote:

Hmmm....
UPDATE: Sources have confirmed to PitPass.net that Michael Andretti has purchased the engine program from Penske Racing and will field at least one full time Dodge in the Cup series in 2013 and beyond. No word on who the driver is, but with Matt Kenseth leaving Roush at the end of the season, the 2003 Cup series champ did confirm to the Journal Sentinel on Wednesday that he will drive for "a new cup team" in 2013 and beyond. One option on the table is for Andretti to base his team out of the old Evernham Motorsports shop at the Statesville Regional Airport in Statesville, N.C. Also hearing from this unnamed source that this new deal with Dodge is also with Richard Petty Motorsports -- currently a Ford team paired with Roush Fenway Racing, but has a long history with Dodge. (this is why we didn't get the announcement of Petty to Dodge in Michigan a few weeks ago, they were trying to get Kenseth). Hearing that an offical announcement could come as early as next weekend.(PitPass.net) http://www.jayski.com/cupnews.htm#20120627e |
It would be wise for KENSETH to go to JGR or Stewart-Haas racing at this stage of his career.

So my family and I do this couple racing thing every year. Here's how it goes, each couple gets to pick a driver. Who ever comes closest to 1st place in a race gets a dollar from everyone. Whoever has the most points in standings at the end of the season, that couple gets to pick a spot for dinner anywhere they want. Everything will be paid for including drinks. So here's the list of drivers. They cannot be changed during the season.
Which ever driver has the least amount of points in standings will have first option at picking a new driver or keeping the same driver. However, the person who gets first pick cannot pick a driver that's already been taken. Should I stick with Keselowski next season? Who do you think will have a great run next year? Me: Edwards GF: Keselowski Bro: Hamlin SIL: Kenseth Dad: Ky Busch Mom: Harvick Unc: Stewart Aunt: McMurray |
I think there's a good chance that we'll see Tony Stewart and Jimmie Johnson fighting each other over the championship, eventually.
Although, it would be great to see Matt Kenseth stick it to Roush/Fenway and FORD! J/M/O I'm hungry. I have to order up something. Looks like it is going to rain. |
I had no idea the race was on tonight. Shit.
|
I'm trying to figure out why it was necessary to add Kentucky to the Cup schedule, when there are already 1167 tracks just like it. Maybe I'm a year late with this gripe.
