I think the royals are .500. They got a middle of the order threat Butler and a guy who can take the ball every 5th day and get you a win in hochaver

Minors are almost done. Advanced A was rained out, Odorizzi will pitch tomorrow. In AA, Wil Myers was off, and Colon and Perez are both having bad days.
In Omaha, Cain is doing all right, Hosmer is 2/2 with a walk and double, Moustakas is 1/3 so far with a double, and Giavotella is 1/2 with a walk. Duffy pitched really well with no earned runs, just 1 hit, 1 walk, and 7 strikeouts. He only went 4 2/3, but he must have been on a really strict pitchcount because he only threw 76 pitches. Kinda nice that we have 2 legit middle infield prospects. I think Escobar has shortstop nailed down for a while no matter how poorly he hits (did you see that diving grab and throwout of Ichiro's up the middle hit, holy crap!), but if Colon ultimately ends up failing I think Giavotella may wind up playing a legit average 2B, and of course we still have Getz. |
How bout Dem T-Bones?

Watching the replay of the postgame show on fox sports net, and apparently they've had two 4-game winning streaks through their first 14 games. They didn't have one 4-game streak in all of 2010.

If you could undo the Grienke trade would you? I think we raped the Brewers.

Minors are done, no big changes except Hosmer went 3/3 with a walk including TWO doubles. I hope Kila does well enough soon to be worth something in a trade (hello Seattle? Your lineup obviously sucks, so you can probably use our hawaiian slugger!) before Hosmer forces him out.

If they make the playoffs, I do think the Brewers will be more than happy with the trade. They are going all in to win before Fielder leaves.

I have been a Royals hater....ok...not hater but apathetic towards the team. But props to them and props to you guys who stick with them. Enjoy this small shot of the good times.

If Grienke had wanted to stay, I might have wanted him to stay. But I think they did the right thing. I don't mean that as a "he left screw him" kind of thing; it's about his psychological make-up. I don't think he'd be worth very much to the Royals down the road if he wasn't fully invested in the team. I actually wish they'd been able to pull the trigger in 2010 when his value was at its peak.

And eventually people will forget that Dayton definitely deserves credit for getting as much as he did considering Greinke could veto, and apparently did veto, some of the possible trade partners. |
