Do we even have enough bullets left to make another deal? With Zimmer and Manea being so injury prone it seems there's not much available to trade

Are they in line to replace Dayton?
Are you still receiving favors of a sexual nature from them?

No? Then cross them off the list of could give a ****.

For the casual and new Royals fans whose first true great moment as a fan was seeing Finnegan go from college to the WS in less than a year it was a great moment and I can see the disappointment. For everyone else, it's a great deal for us especially considering he likely isn't going to shape up to be a starter.

I honestly see us going 40-25, at least. Maybe even something like 43-22. I bet we get to, and perhaps eclipse, 100 wins.

Only 25% of our remaining schedule is against teams over .500.

I don't think we need to waste a roster spot on a LOOGY, even though he has been very good. We can, or we can just use his spot to stack our bench even further.

I wouldn't mind acquiring a defensive whiz to be our 25th guy. Someone who can't hit, but is an excellent defensive infielder.

Dyson?

My question is Butera- we've seen so little of him I can't honestly say I have an opinion on him good or bad?

Unless there are pics or a link this probably is just conjecture or didn't happen.

Some guys you draft because they will be better trade pieces than players. Brett Wallace was that for the Cardinals, and he is what got them Matt Holliday. Finnegan is never going to be anything other than a back of the rotation guy/long man at best. Packaging him with two other guys whose upside is a #4 starter is a hell of a nice get.

What kind of prospect level were Lamb and Reed?

Lamb is a former top 20 guy who never came quite all the way back from Tommy John.

He's been doing well in Omaha but his stuff profiles as a back-end guy right now. He had an excellent changeup before the injury, with 14-15 MPH separation from his best fastball, but it's more lik 8-9 now, which is still good but not plus-plus.

Reed is a helium guy. Big lefty, great build, good fastball and slider (there's more about him in the spoilers of the OP). Lot of upside, could be another Duffy type if it all works out. Still a long ways to go (I think he has made 4 starts at AA at this point).

If we do anything I would like Zobrist. But im sure he will be expensive and Beane would probably charge us a fk you tax. He can play OF and IF, the only problem is Ned would not use him enough in my opinion, so some of his value would be wasted. Zobrist is a BETTER everyday option both at RF and 2B. An argument could even be made that hes better at 3B than Moustakas (assuming each player regresses & progresses toward their career avgs). If we got Zobrist then Infante should immediately move to back up IF. You could still play Infante more than most back up 2Bs as you could give Zobrist spot starts at RF based on favorable matchups.

If acquired, I think Zobrist's immediate position would be LF. Once Gordon is back, he would play either 2B or RF - whichever spot has a weaker performer in it at that point (probably 2B, considering the way Rios has looked of late).

Sports center said LoCain set career high with 37 Xtra base hits. And its still July

Meh. Prado might not be realistic. He's on the books for $11M this year and $11M next year. We could probably get him super cheap but then we're paying $19M for Prado/Infante in 2016.

I wouldn't rule it out. With attendance and the position they sit for the next few years. The payroll may open quite a bit with the full expectation that it's will be scaled back as they’re going to bring in younger guys for some of the talent we'll lose in FA.

Biggest determinant being higher paid guys potentially available that either have no more than 2 years left on their contract or will sign for shorter deals.

The organization can be a bit more aggressive under these terms because you insulate yourself from a Verlander scenario. They can be reasonably competitive in salary if a chunk of payroll isn't dead money.

Obviously it still has realistic limits - no mega contract deals like Cueto is going to be offered this winter. Also, losing guys to teams willing to tack on extra years. But, dollar for dollar we probably will be more competitive in being able to match salaries for some talent outside of just the bargain bin.

That was a while ago. I'm sure he has matured. No sarcasm.

Look at our record against the NL the last couple years - project it out. There will be some variance but you're including multiple seasons so it had a little bit of normalization.
They'd wax asses in the NL.
