How great would that be seriously if this happend

I could see them having a great relationship kinda like jerry macguire where tom cruise and cuba become best buds

Butler hits his 50th double of the season, off Ron Mahay no less to drive in a run

Sigh.

“The potential is there within this club. Our problems this year haven’t been from a lack of talent. It’s been a lack of performance. And the first step in fixing that is to get people healthy.” --Moore.

Depressing article.

This thread should be renamed to the 2009 Kansas City Royals Suppository.

Ok, so let's say you were the GM of this team. What steps do you take? Who are the free agents you'd pursue?

From everything we're being told, there's next to no money to be spent on free agents. So, you start thinking trades. However, exactly what are we going to trade that will bring back anything of value? Last year we had some bullpen arms that had value. This year? Nada. I'd be shocked if we traded Greinke, Butler or Soria. What else is there to deal?

I'm very disheartened about what this team will bring to the table next year. Until we can get rid of Guillen, Farnsworth, and perhaps even Meche, there's no money to be spent on free agency.

Hell, if you were David Glass, would you want to give Dayton a blank check at this point? I sure as hell wouldn't.

We've got a decent amount of money coming off the books next year. But that doesn't help us this offseason The only positive thing I can say... is that it doesn't always cost a lot of money to fix a bullpen. I've said this 100 times now but if you do that and we're a 75-80 win team again.

And Dayton has put together good bullpens 2 out of 3 years, that's not unrealistic, there's always a lot of turnover. Now getting the offense we need to become a challenger, that's a whole other story.

Royals went out with a whimper today. (Did you expect any different??)

Twins 13

Royals 4

tk, I really respect you as a poster, but I have to disagree strongly with the fixed bully = 75 wins statement. The starting rotation fell apart outside of Greinke, with Meche, Banny, and Davies going on the shelf and Hochever utterly falling off the face of the earth. Tejada stepped up, but after that it was a black hole. And oh by the way, that was our "strength". The offense, defense and bullpen were terrible. I agree that the bullpen can be fixed, although Farns and Cruz aren't going anywhere and can they be trusted? The offense isn't likely to get much better, nor is the defense with Yuni, Callaspo, Gordon and Butler as the likely infield next season. Yikes.

Hochevar had a really frustrating season.

He had 2 or 3 starts where he was DOMINATING, then the rest....sucked.

at least this thread has more posts than the Cardinals 2009 thread.

The Royals are a horrible team with probably the worst bullpen ever. Greinke would have 20 wins if that bullpen actually had major league pitchers. There is no way they should get paid for what they do. And there is a good reason why other teams didn't want those relievers.
The problem is the front office is so worried about what people are saying about them instead of what's happening on the field. The Royals can't hit and can't hold a lead once they do start to score a run or two. But for some reason people say mean things and that becomes priority number one with the front office.
None of the middle relievers should be back next year, except Soria. And the offense needs to learn how to hit. They could be shut down by jucos in both KS and MO. I feel bad for guys like Greinke and Soria for wasting their talents on a team full of poo. And runned like it too.
