Why did they build a huge nuclear power plant next to the Pacific Ocean in a high-risk earthquake zone?

****ing idiots.

Denial.

So, it's okay for you to repeat inaccurate information?

Is there any topic you guys can't turn into a gigantic pissing contest? I actually came into this thread for substantive updates. I'm dumb.

Yes. BTW, did you think this thread wouldn't be a pissing contest after googlegoogle dissed the mods like he did?

suzzer99 03-12-2011 06:58 PM

Maybe the thread title should be changed to something a little more accurate.

The Japanese islands are all in a high-risk earthquake zone. They have minimal indigenous natural resources required for electricity generation. So, they rely on nuclear power to generate a lot of their electricity.

They built it next to the ocean for its water.

I suggest that you go over to Buck's thread instead: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=242583

Just ignore anything teedubya says if you substantive updates, however.

The original thread title was something like "Japan nuclear reactor goes Chernobyl." There was never any substantive information here.

****ing idiots.

They need the cold water from the ocean to cool the reactor.

Thanks Donger, I know why they did it, but I think they are realizing their FAIL right now.

It's kind of hard to prevent damage from a tsunami.
