I've got the same problem (ALPS driver), just been too lazy to switch to a default driver.

Too bad 2 pages of that are Windows homers arguing with ya. Suse is better.

Define "acts funny". Does it jump around on the screen, moves to slow...?

Jumps around on the screen, all of a sudden after it jumps it goes back like 3 pages on the browser or will switch programs fast and not controlled by me when over the kicker

You have the same touchpad I do (or similar). It has an emulated scroll wheel that goes along the bottom for left 'n right, as well as the emulated scroll wheel along the side for up 'n down. Probably using the ALPS drive (check under YAST). I plan on switching to IMPS (which I normally use for touchpads), and will let you know if that helps.

resolv.conf is your DNS server(s), so that might be your first problem.

Suse supports profiles, so you can have more than one set of complete system configurations that you can switch between. Look in YaST for Profiles.

I am deciding on the fate of one of these that I happen to have. How would it be as SuSE machine?

Thinkpad A21m

Is a 10G HD enough to create a dual boot machine?

I wouldn't expect blazing X-Windows performance but it should do just fine. I wouldn't go for dual boot, anything under 10G is a stretch for a Windows box.
