Palko has started two games, turned the ball over 7 times and accounted for zero TDs.

While WE all understand that winning games at this point is probably counterproductive, do you REALLY want Pioli to retain a coach that would WILLINGLY continue to play Palko instead of Orton?

Very well said.

I'm going to answer your rhetorical questions with a resounding "HELL NO"

At this point in the season I wouldn't care.If we were 7-4 and in the playoff hunt I would think differently. I see no point in winning anymore games this year and I would rather us lose out. Indy has no issues with it and they will end up with Luck. We will win 4-6 and be hoping for our QBOTF. If we miss him because we started Orton against Chicago when there was absolutely nothing to gain, I would be pissed. The same fans who are eager for Orton to play would be too when the season is over and the short term "high" of a win has worn off and reality sets in. Remember how ecstatic some were when we beat Minn? How bout Indy? Or Oak? Or SD? It felt good to win at the time, but now reality has set in and it all but screwed our chance at Luck.

We are still dangerously close to missing out on RGIII and Barkley without a trade up which I don't see this team doing. If this team does not realize that we need a QB then they all need to be removed. The message coming down to Haley should be to lose out as the season is shot. Anything less than focusing on a QB in this years draft and doing whatever it takes without jeopardizing it's future is short-sighted indeed. If that means we start 7 TO in two games Palko then so be it. Had Cassel been healthy we most likely would have still lost, so what's the difference between losing with Cassel and losing with Palko. Both suck and our offense was inept under both. Orton is not the savior everyone thinks he is. He shouldn't even be on this team as he does nothing for us.

that's all well and good, and i agree with all of it.

i think what htismag is concerned with is the fact that Haley SHOULD be on the hot seat (to put it mildy) and SHOULD be trying to win as many games as possible by the end of the year to hopefully keep his job.

The fact that he is starting a 0 TD 7 INT QB in the next despite better options tells us he's not concerned with winning. Which, from a draft and QBOTF standpoint is good. But from a Coaching Accountabililty standpoint, is fucking horrible, cause it means Pioli's probably guaranteed Haley his job next season and is encouraging starting Palko to lose, wouldn't make sense otherwise.

Too bad Egoli and Haley weren't as smart Colts Owners and Caldwell and just tanked the season for Luck. To anyone who thinks I'm crazy for suggesting the Colts are losing on purpose answer this : WHY DOES CALDWELL GO 0-11 AND STILL HAVE A JOB?????

Haley is trying to save his job. Do you not understand that?

Haley would have no reason to lie to one of his players... He didn't say this to the media.

Sure it was saying it to the media. The Chicago media requested to speak with the starting QB for the press conference today. Palko was asked this question during that call.

At most, Orton is going to help this team win one more game than they win otherwise.

What does that accomplish?

Gets us out of drafting a rookie QB and a chance at 9-7 next year.

Maybe but maybe not. There were rumors he was going to be fired if we lost the Indy game. I'm not saying Romeo would be on my list of coaches but I could see Pioli giving him a few games to be the HC this year and making him the coach next year.

I firmly believe that Pioli/Hunt/Haley are all on the same page here.

Mr. Laz 11-30-2011 06:24 PM

Pioli must be forcing Haley to start Palko.

I have no idea why you would think this.

Looks more to me like he is trying to get fired.

Palko would have been cut by now if I were the coach.

xztop12 11-30-2011 06:30 PM

Sabby, Becht, Thomas Jones, Palko, and Terrance Copper are all Haley's guys. Make no mistake.
