He's been making better but not great contact. And since no one on this team is an extra base hitter, he's put in tons of DP situations. Sure it sucks, but we know it's coming.

If he's such a problem, who do we replace him with in our lineup?

I don't want him replaced. I want him to either be more aggressive or focus on hitting the balls on the outer half of the plate to the opposite field. Salvy does that well. It seems all of Billy's ground balls occur when he tries to pull the pitches on the outside or swings at the pitches coming in at him which are really hard to put good wood on. Being more aggressive could remove that pitch which he almost always sees with two strikes.

Greg Holland has a 1.31 ERA. Insane.

He's also got a shot at 100 K. He may be having the best year a Royals reliever will ever have.

Just to think there were a handful of us at the first month of the year clamoring for Herrera to be the closer to closer by committee ROFL. I think I wanted them to co/close. Boy was I wrong.

31 consecutive saves. And 37 saves in 39 opportunities. Too bad we can't trade him for Jim Johnson.

Nightfyre 09-03-2013 09:20 PM

1.56 k/inning
0.89 whip
6 k/bb
2 hr in 54 innings.

TOLD YOU SO!

I was in favor of demoting him temporarily to let him find his head, but was always confident he could find his way.

Didn't expect THIS. Not quite. But it's pretty damn cool.

Meanwhile, Jim Johnson has blown 9 saves this year...

Dan Quisenberry says hi! You know, back when closers used to pitch 120+ innings a year.

Quiz couldn't hold Hollands jock this season

Quisenberry is great and I know he was in the Cy Young/MVP running for several years, but it's not even in the same ballpark. Quisenberry's career high for strikeouts was 54, and that was the only time he ever broke 50. Holland is pitching at apex Mariano Rivera level. And Rivera never broke 90 K's as a closer. Holland's about to do it two years in a row.

Another win. Not pretty, but who cares? At this point, I think we need to sweep the M's. That lineup has nothing other than Seager, and we've already beaten King Felix. So let's do this.
