Whaaaa? You don't think OU would have put up >0 points against Clemson? Really? I'm not saying they would have won, but they'd have scored at least one time.

The FCS has a 24 team playoff that balances an emphasis on winning your conference championship (participating conference winners get an automatic bid to the playoffs) with the opportunity to still make the playoffs if you have a good overall resume but don't win your conference (with 14 at large bids).
Also the FCS playoffs don't have 30+ days between games like the FBS playoff games do (from the end of the regular season to the playoff games), and the FCS National Championship Game takes place two days before the FBS National Championship Game does.
Why can't the FBS replicate the FCS playoff format?

They will tell you it is because the kids are bigger in FBS and blah blah blah, but the reality is they don't want to give up the month of practice (Yet there is A LOT of rust on some of these games)
I can't believe they don't try and capture some March Madness feel/$$$ from it. Just name all these bowls. Get them on the tube at a consistent time and make dat money.
But nope. Stupidity ensues.
