Alex Smith needs to play well for the Chiefs to succeed in the playoffs. I hope he does and makes a lot of people including myself eat crow. I'll hold my opinion until after the postseason. I don't care if he's successful throwing bubble screens or 50 yard bombs. Just win games.

The problem with your argument is Alex Smith has played this same limited way for his entire career.

Has Alex Smith simply been an extension of his HC's ultra conservative game plans for his entire 11 year career? A career that has included many different HC's and offensive coordinators?

Or do all of these coaches recognize Alex Smith's extreme limitations and adjust accordingly?

The SF personnel from 2006-2012 was really similar to the Chiefs.

Strong defense. Strong STs. Strong at RB. Strong at TE.
Weak at WR.

SF had defensive-minded HCs (Nolan/Singletary) that were vocal about conservative offense, while leaning on strong D and STs. Harbaugh was just building up his scheme for SF and was the same way.

The OCs were simply extensions of the HC's will. They stuck their paws (philosophy) into everything.

If it makes you feel better to be locked into it being Smith's limitations.. and I am sure this will be the case, well go ahead. I can't alter your view.. won't even try. All I can and am doing.. is giving you the correct answer for you and other's year by year frustration in wondering how this could be.

" How can they stick with this guy? How? Are they crazy!?! "

No. They are not. They just don't share your ridiculously ignorant viewpoint.

So they will continue to do that which don't agree with.. and you will continue to stew in your own confusion and frustration.

Best of luck with that.

Not sure what you mean. But it's week 17, and if the Chiefs have a long playoff run not only will Alex be here next year but he probably would get a contract extension.

And with the way Kelce and Hill are playing right now I wouldn't bet against it.

Alex Smith apologists are speculating that he'll magically turn into a competent QB in the playoffs.

Considering Grbac put up similar numbers to Smith in a time when the rules weren't geared towards offense, I'm pretty right on.

yup, because all teams are exactly the same through different decades.

you, like others, just can't let it go.

you think your opinion is more important than reality.

JFC you are a dumbshit.

When the 49ers finally hired a real HC in Jim Harbaugh he eventually recognized that you couldn't win with Alex Smith's limitations and dumped him.

Would this be considered Fact/Not Fiction? That crowd sure thinks their opinion is the only one that matters.

And they're looking like a wild card team that's gonna have to win 3 road games to make a run because the qb lost 2 home games to non playoff teams.

This has been Smith's worst statistical year here and the chiefs are still in a position to win 12 games. That's how good the roster is.

It's been pretty apparent that he's had a bad year and they can get out of his deal.

You do realize that this year's Chiefs team is basically winning the exact same way that the 1995 team won in the regular season, correct? Timely turnovers/defensive and special teams TD's that masked weak QB play.

It blew up in the playoffs.

No, a kicker missed THREE FGs...any one of them wins the game.

1995 is not 2016.

Open your heart....and embrace positive hope and confidence. :)

NO a coach went from running the ball successfully to throwing the balll all over the field with a team that couldnt pass for shit...

Ill never blame the kicker for Martys faults...

ROFL this is how dumbshit Alex Smith apologists like Sandy Butt Cheeks roll... when you overwhelm and destroy their Alex Smith fantasies with cold hard facts, they waive the white flag and quit like Alex throwing a 2 yard bubble screen on 3rd and long.
