You may have seen a tweet from @KUboobs saying that "KU has ordered KUBoobs to cease and desist." That tweet is not accurate.

@JMarchiony 9m

KU is not trying to shut down the @KUboobs Twitter account. A Twitter account is one thing. But they're selling merchandise with KU on it.

@JMarchiony 8m

That violates KU's Federal trademark, which the University must protect.

@JMarchiony 7m

We've asked them to stop selling that merchandise, not to shut down the Twitter account. Rock Chalk!

In Self's basketball scrimmage today Frankamp went 4-4 from 3 and Greene had 21 points. Embiid had the green light and went 1-2 from 3.

noa 06-12-2013 04:24 PM

I'm very excited about Frankamp. It's been a whole since we had a sniper. I wouldn't build my team around one, but they are perfect complementary puexes. A guy like Jeff Boschee could change the momentum of a game so quickly and demoralize an away crowd.

Word is the whole team can shoot that's for sure.

Chief_For_Life58 06-12-2013 04:33 PM

scoring wont be a problem for this years ku team lol

Chiefs Pantalones 06-12-2013 04:38 PM

This is seriously like Pavlov's dog. I can't wait until the season!

"Thanks to a big second half, freshman forward Brannen Greene led all scorers with 21 points in the Blue's come-from-behind victory over the alums.
Tyshawn Taylor added 19 points and Sherron Collins 16 for the Red, while Perry Ellis chipped in 14, Landen Lucas and Conner Frankamp added 12 apiece and Jamari Traylor added 11 for the Blue squad."

CoMoChief 06-12-2013 04:38 PM

Greene and Frankamp are "real" sharpshooters

Wiggins, Seldon, and Tharpe can all knock down 3's.

I can't wait for next season....I loved watching guys like Jeff Boschee and Tyrel Reed make it rain from the arc.

saphojunkie 06-12-2013 04:45 PM

It's a dirty little secret, but we've really struggled to score the last two years. That shit is OVER.

Conner Frankamp is going to win a national championship at KU. Dude's going to be draining them at will from beyond NBA by the time he's a junior.

I'm certainly not pointing out that Tharpe should be a main longball option.

But I think for Tharpe to really take off and be something special this season (which I think he can) he needs to play smarter. He spent last season learning to know "when" to shoot, which IMO is very important. You can always improve your shot, and his 3PT% while below average (I think around 33%), can get better with practice, and I think it will. Having people outside that can shoot the rock will also help him be able to penetrate in the lane. This team is going to have all sorts of ways to score it's going to be sickening. But with a little better shot and other players as legitimate threats, will allow him to be open more. I think he's going to be a double figure scorer just because of how much he'll have the ball in his hands. somewhere around 10-12pts a game.

Don't necessarily agree. While the offense wasn't terribly efficient in 12, but Taylor could and did beat anybody and everybody off the bounce and TRob was other****ingworldly. Dude was just off the wall. He consistently scored on double and triple teams. That team made it their MO to score when they needed it. The D was OK. Withey was nails and EJ was good but Taylor wasn't a defensive monster and Conner ****ing Teahan was playing D. That team won on the offensive end.

13. That was offensive struggle.

Buehler445 06-12-2013 09:38 PM

That's not to say though that I wouldn't have welcomed Frankamp over Teahan.

RustShack 06-12-2013 09:50 PM

Just curious... We do the "Capital City League" during the summer with Drake and various other small schools and old players like Royce White, Garrett, Brackins and so on.. But our coaches aren't involved... Do all schools do something similar?

It's six teams then there's two Cyclones and two drake players per team then the rest is filled with others. Basically street ball not much defense but it's still pretty cool.

I don't think this post could be more wrong. Taylor was a very good defender, better than EJ. That team had the #4 defensive efficiency and #1 field goal percentage defense in the country.

Tournament run:

Detroit: 65-50
Purdue: 63-60
NC State: 60-57
N. Carolina: 80-67
Ohio State: 64-62

Yeah, that’s a real offensive juggernaut.

Prison Bitch 06-13-2013 08:44 AM

I think I read there were 15 teams who hit 25% or less from deep last year's tourney and 12 lost round 1, 2 lost round 2, and then KU nearly won it all. We were a defense-first team by far.

ArrowheadHawk 06-13-2013 09:37 AM

I don't think the coaches are involved

You're probably right. Maybe I'm selectively remembering.

What I do remember is I can defend better than Teahan. That kid was turrible /Barkley.

It seemed to me that the games they won, they hit big shots. That maybe different than rocking offensively. But on several games, they needed to hit shots to win, and they did.

Tarik Black is starting.
Brannen Greene is going to find a way on the floor, even though he's behind wiggins.
Selden is calm as a mother****er.
Embiid has work to do.
Ellis hits his threes consistently? We are going to score at ****ing will.

Oh, and Sherron is fat as shit but he's still got it. Dude is the most fun player to watch ever.

Here are the numbers, btw:

BLUE TEAM (ALL CURRENT)

#25 Tarik Black
#14 Brannen Greene
#0 Frank Mason

#31 Jamari Traylor
#34 Perry Ellis
#11 Tyler Self
#20 Niko Roberts

RED TEAM

#21 Joel Embiid (yeah that's him hitting a three.)
#33 Landen Lucas
#4 Justin Wesley
Tyshawn Taylor
Sherron Collins (so fat. Still sooooooooo awesome)
Tyrel Reed
Jeff Hawkins
Mario Little
Brady Morningstar

A couple of thoughts going in.

saphojunkie 06-13-2013 11:37 AM
