The white sox have a lot of pressure on them, i'll be interested to see how they respond as the next 3/4 or the season unfold. Think it'll be a dog fight.

Yep 3 games this weekend, then home for 3 with the Twins Mon.-Wed. before 4 more next weekend with the White Sux, and then also 3 with Tampa Bay to close out the homestand.

Started Triple A 1-for-10. Since then, 14-for-34. Omaha line of .341/.370/.705 after going .305/.400/.642 at NWA.

Jeff Flanagan seems to think the Omaha IF will be Dozier at 3B, Colon at SS and Cuthbert at 2B, with the idea that 1) with Mondesi out, the Royals don't have a legit backup SS if Esky is out for a period, and Colon needs the reps; 2) they want to see if Cuthbert is a solution at 2B.

So despite the 810 narratives, it's not so much that the team dislikes Colon and likes Infante. It's that they're trying to reshuffle the deck a bit.

siberian khatru 05-20-2016 06:34 AM

BTW, Bubba Starling is 3 for his last 39, with one BB and 19 Ks. .195/.282/.376

So they're going to put all their eggs in the re-signing Hosmer basket and Cuthbert, Mondesi, Dozier will be the new infield by 2018 with Colon filling in for Mondesi during the suspension?

Also I agree with Petro that Colon is a little pudgy to be playing a middle infield spot.

I think he can handle 2B so long as he doesn't balloon into Rickie Weeks.

That would be a reasonable long-term view, if Cuthbert can handle 2B. Not sure he can. Dozier is also athletic enough to play RF or LF, if Cuthbert hits but can't stick at 2B.

Are they doing a ceremony pregame this year for Armed Forces Night?
I went on Memorial Day 2014 and my god, that pregame ceremony made 39k not give one **** about the 10-2 beatdown the Astros put on the Royals later that night. It was absolutely top-notch and a better ceremony and remembrance than any camouflage jersey can ever do.

Buehler445 05-21-2016 10:32 AM

Ummmm...

I think we...kinda....broke Matt Harvey.

5.77 ERA. No known injuries talking about minors, bullpen, DH.

They're talking about his Tommy John pitch count last year and all that. Yeah. OK. I think you have to look very seriously at his confidence being absolutely and totally obliterated.

He was supposed to be the Dark Knight. He was going to win the ****ing World Series. Just like the movies. The crowd went wild. And then he shit the bed. I don't know how that doesn't get in your head.

Either way, if we broke him, my God. That's incredible.

Please let this season be the end of this nightmare. I can’t stomach another October of Hosmer all over my television, MOOOOSE!, Yost being validated for his horrible moves like Alcides Escobar batting leadoff, hearing how it’s a 6 inning ballgame when you face the Royals, and all of the gushing over an organization that seems to revel in its identity as the team that shuns information and knowledge in favor of grit and gut feeling.

Our presold tix give us a head start on last year. They are 20k/game vs 10K just two years ago. That said they better start scoring runs, nobody wants to see Kendrys flailing every pitch or Escobar getting down 1-2 every AB or Gordon striking out like Adam Dunn without the power

How atrocious has Alex Gordon been? He's striking out 30% of his PA. Consider his first two years when he "struggled" it was 22%. He's been essentially worthless this year at 0.3 WAR and all of that Tiny value coming from baserunning.

I knew he'd decline but he went straight down the shitter the moment that ink dried on his deal. Remember when he was sent down in 2010 for sucking so badly? His #s are identical across the board.

With the way Alex has been swinging this year, you'd think he would have broken that bone in Spring Training? . . . . But, no, seriously, Alex has been dogshit at the plate this year.

Royals are better off with Cuthbert and Orlando/Dyson in the lineup in his place.

Looks to be some rain in the forecast for tonight's ballgame. Last I saw on Twitter was that best case scenario they might be able to get it in if they got fortunate luck with the weather. That would also include a possible delay or two.
