Good. That punk ass bitch fled to the States while leaving his teammates to take the fall when the story started to crumble.

Remember that movie Return to Paradise with Vince Vaughan and Joaquin Phoenix? Basically Joquain got thrown into a Malaysian prison for some drugs that he was sharing with Vaughan and another guy. Vaughan and the other guy made it back to the states but Phoenix got caught. The judge said if the other two guys come back - all 3 of them serve 2 years. If one comes back they both serve 6. If no one comes back Phoenix gets the death penalty.

How funny would it be if the judge put on his troll face and said something like "2 years for the 3 remaining swimmers. But if Lochte comes back you all get 3 months"? Just put all the pressure on Lochte.

I always felt like Lochte was kind of a defective human. The A-Rod of swimming.

Things just got more complicated. In the initial video, 3 or 4 minutes of footage were omitted where security guards had their guns drawn on the swimmers. Brazil is also admitting that part is true.

So, its a bit of a gray area now. I think what happened is that these jackasses were causing damage at the gas station, guns were drawn to get them out and they probably demanded that they also pay for the damage.

I still think there is a possibility they were held up by a corrupt security guard. Brazil is in cover their ass mode. I'll reserve judgement for now.

So Brazil, trying to defend itself from false allegations of olympians being robbed, will probably now have to release video of their cops drawing guns on and demanding money from unarmed athletes? That will help their image.

Also, is it possible that Lochte is unintelligent enough that he actually thought he was being robbed by a fake cop?

The fact that the swimmers smashed up the restroom and were doing damage inside adds a lot of context. In our country you still have to meekly stand back, call the cops, and sue them in court, but things don't always work that way elsewhere.

So, I think this Ryan Lochte thing is being blown out of proportion. I just watched the videos.

The media is saying they "trashed" a gas station. You see them entering the area looking for a bathroom. They are in there for no more than 30-40 seconds, and then they all come out and get into a cab. How do you trash a bathroom in 30 seconds? Then you do see security people come up and get them out of the cab. Later, there is another video of them handing their wallets.

Now, were they robbed? Not exactly but I don't know if I would call Lochtes initial story that outlandish. Remember, they were intoxicated after being at a party and do not speak Portuguese. Certainly there was confusion. It appears they were looking for a bathroom, most likely got up to it, couldn't get it, tried to kick the door to get in and damaged the door somehow. Then, security guards with guns intimidated them and demanding them give them the money they had. Certainly reasonable account of a drunken person, especially one who doesn't speak the language seeing guys with guns demanding money.

Doesn't make it right. I'd like to know how much the security guards with guns fleeced off of them. If it was $500 for kicking a door, smashing a mirror? Fine. If they had 10k on them....that is virtually getting robbed.

When someone rear en ds you, do you tell them they can't leave, intimidate them with a gun and demand x amount of money?

Hell no. Brazil is a shit show. Their head of security got mugged. Australian swimmer was forced to withdraw $$ from an ATM in the middle of the night at gunpoint. Pools turned green. I'll take our guys' side on this one.
