Veach is taking into account the guys we gotta pay coming up soon. If Chris gets his then that means somebody else that’s elite and younger (Creed, Trey) might have to walk. At this rate I’m all about turning Jones into draft picks.

Tag him. Shop him at the combine and get a trade done before FA starts in March.

If I'm Veach I'm calling Monti Ossenfort in Arizona. The Cardinals are going to be god awful this year. The odds they get a top 5 pick are over 90%. The odds they get the first or second overall pick are at least 70%.

The Cardinals have 2 first rd picks, a second and 2 third rd picks as it stands. The likelihood that they get a top 2 draft pick is very high IMO. That means they can rid themselves of Kyler Murray and draft Caleb Williams or Drake Maye.

I'd ask for their 2nd rd pick and a 4th. That seems pretty fair for a 30 year old DL. And keep in mind that their 2nd rd pick is gonna be one of the first of the 2nd rd.

They won't mind bc some shithole team will give them a pick somewhere for Kyler based simply off his potential. They're already loaded there as well.

It makes a lot of sense bc Gannon is a defensive coach and is gonna want to build up that defense with a guy like Chris.

What's more valuable?

A. A haul of draft picks in 2023.

B. A slightly lesser haul of draft picks in 2024 and one last year of elite DT play?

Thats some extremely shortsighted idiocy, if he were to retire with the Chiefs he'd have the keys to the city for life, he could basically write his own ticket and recoup way more than a couple million... business ventures, speaking gigs etc

You're speaking as a fan. A few million a year over a few years is a lot of ****ing money. And he is an elite player with all pros, near hall of fame and 2 superbowl rings, his legacy is just fine lol.

That's like 95% of the posts in this thread.

You’d also get 20 million dollar of cap space

Hindsight is always 20/20.

There are a lot of outcomes and reasons to have not traded him. What the BEST path would have been is something that won't really shake out until a few years down the road.

So we’re ok letting an elite pass rusher go to sign a center and a guard

I’m not really sure the value checks there

Well…..don’t wait til the last minute?

Here’s what we’re prepared to offer. If that doesn’t work let’s start calling to see who will offer what

Chris holding out keeps us from changing that number. Essentially we don't have the money to bring in free agent DLs. He kind of has us over a barrel;

- He wont play
- We cant replace him in free agency

What am I missing here?:banghead:

If necessary they could talk to the Bank of Mahomes, move some of this year's salary off the books and then recapture it next season when we get the cap credits for the salary Jones lost due to the holdout.

That's not real tough to manage.

What's tough is finding guys worth signing at this point in the season.

If the ages were similar in all the positions mentioned, I’d tend to agree…

Yep. And let's be honest, the way we're going, we're going to have these same discussions with them.

HOW DARE CREED TRY TO BE THE HIGHEST PAID CENTER IN THE GAME!! DOES HE NOT CARE ABOUT HIS LEGACY?

KCrockaholic 08-23-2023 09:40 AM

Big year 1 for Coburn and Wharton needs to stay healthy.

An elite 29 yr old DT is more valuable than an elite guard and center at any age.
