If you are rating the Cardinal teams that made it to the postseason since 2000, here's how it would go, roughly:

2004
2005
2013
2002
2000
2001
2009
2011
2012
2006

Eight wins in a WS game from the bottom three teams. The rest combined for two, total, including none from the two best squads (by far) of this century.

Your 2004 team was the best by far and they got smoked in the World Series. Baseball is a funny game.

@jonmorosi: Martin Prado fits what #Royals need in many ways. Plays infield and outfield, can move around lineup, and is immensely respected.

He's another great clubhouse guy too.

I like Zobrist but if GMDM likes Prado better so be it.

Where is this certainty that Ventura has it all figured out coming from? What did his 36 hours in Omaha bestow upon him?

He never had any real problems, his peripherals were identical to last year.

He had a nice game today, but I'm not sold on him or Duffy...yet.

He also came up with the Braves, so Dayton knows him well.

FWIW, I actually agree with you and said the same thing when he got demoted, but everyone has suddenly changed tune when he's still the same guy he was six days ago when he was persona non grata.

Best record in baseball. Best record in inter league play. One of only 3 NL teams with a winning record against AL teams. Where are you getting your facts to base your opinion that we wouldn't even make the playoffs in the AL?

You were especially lucky in the last game with Ned wasting Morales early and getting to pitch to Dusty Gordon..

If he made it to St. Joe it would have been as far as he got on that trip.

The Yankees might decide to do some spending if there are teams trying to get out of some bad contracts.

That will happen when 295 foot rope hooks count as home runs and Jeff Suppan runs the bases like a four year old.

Our young ace (Ventura) had some problems being then#1 pitcher on the AL World Series team. Typical Chiefsplanet. Give the kid a break. He now has all the pressure off him. He will be just fine.

I don't think they'll ever admit to giving up.

They simply can't afford it. He's going to be a $125-150M player. They can't spend that kind of money on one guy, especially a pitcher who could easily be lost for a season+ with an injury (i.e. Vargas). They'll already have to make a big $ decision on Gordon, and there's more to come the following years with Hos, Cain and Moose.

You forgot 2014, which should be between 2002 and 2000, IMO.

I think 2013 might be better than the '05 team.
