The Arizona Republic reports that Cardinals have moved on from free agent Steve Breaston, and the Chiefs have emerged as the favorites to sign him.

Breaston has been on Kansas City's radar all along because of his connections to ex-Cardinals WRs coach Todd Haley, and the Chiefs apparently don't have a problem with his troublesome right knee. In K.C., Breaston would figure to compete outside with first-round pick Jonathan Baldwin for playing time and also see some action in the slot. If the Chiefs sign Breaston, Baldwin probably wouldn't be a 60-snap per game player in his rookie season.

Well by keeping it secretive then it doesn't give away how much money The Chiefs still have to play with. If another team hears that the Chiefs might be involved and they still have a ton of cap space they might figure "well screw it we dont have the space that the Chiefs do" and give up. But say they hear it is Carolina that is interested. They then know they probably can outbid the Panthers and get the person they want.
