3rd Q 1:22 3rd and 14 Abilene 19 Jamaal Charles rushes for 0 yards.
3rd Q 0:32 4th and 14 Abilene 19 Jamaal Charles rushes for 17 yards.

A stretch of 4 consecutive running plays for 4 different distances and 50 seconds exactly comes off the clock for each play. May be an abberation, but seems rather odd.

Edit, 50 second run offs exactly happens several times:

4th Q 5:08 1st and 10 Allentown 46 Jamaal Charles rushes for 4 yards.
4th Q 4:18 2nd and 6 Allentown 42 Peyton Hillis rushes for 6 yards.
4th Q 3:28 3rd and 1 Allentown 37 Peyton Hillis rushes for 2 yards.
4th Q 2:38 1st and 10 Allentown 34 Peyton Hillis rushes for 3 yards. time out Allentown

I use fixed times for the duration of each play type. This is a very slight simplification, unlikely to affect game play or enjoyment.

I'm allowing 5 seconds for the play and the referee/timekeeper to get things going and a 45 second play clock. Smart teams are going to be very close to this number in a must run situation.

Allentown 41, Abilene 21

Why run the ball and even risk a fumble, when Allentown can qb kneel 3 consecutive times and run out the end of the game?

End of game 3:

Abilene
4th Q 0:01 1st and 10 Allentown 39 Peyton Hillis rushes for 3 yards.
Allentown 7, Abilene 32

Why not kneel down?

Yeah, I need to add a kneel function.

Abilene down by 3, passes up a fg to tie the game from the 22 with 10 seconds left and no time outs and runs a 6 yard pass play? Real poor decision making here.

fixed.

It would seem that there was enough time to get to the line of scrimmage and attempt a throw into the end zone from 41 yards out on 4th and 5. Or even attempt a long field goal. Either way, on a 4 yard pass and down by 14, Abilene should have been trying to score at the end of the half and 21 seconds seems like it would afford enough time to run a play.

Same deal with using fixed times for specific play types. It's likely that 21 seconds would elapse on a typical short completed pass under hurry up conditions. It is also likely that if it were the last play of the half, they would find a way to get the play off, like you suggest. I'm on the fence about adding a lot of code to handle 1 play per half.

I do need to add a function so teams that don't have Matt Cassel for a QB will throw for the end zone in these kinds of situations.

The remaining things you found are legitimate bugs that I need to track down. Tomorrow. Thanks for the feedback, it is very helpful.

I'd have lost this one anyway, but Clearwater vs. Anchorage, 4th and 4, down 3 with 28 seconds left in the game and evidently 1 timeout (judging by the 2 plays run afterward)....and my team punted.

That seems...wrong.

DJ's left nut 06-28-2012 01:13 PM

I'm not sure if I just can't find it, but is there anyplace to see individual/team statistics thus far? Sorry if this has already been addressed.

DJ's left nut 06-28-2012 01:23 PM

This also seems unnecessarily reckless:

4th and 8 from my own 36 with 32 seconds left against Vegas in a tie ballgame....and we go for it (after punting the week before on 4th and 4 while losing).

Vegas managed to go for 32 yards and evidently get stopped at the 4 as time expired to send it into overtime. Otherwise I'd have been one sad panda.

I brought that play up to cdcox and he says he fixed the AI. No place yet for stats.

Stacey Andrews should be a G not a TE

I thought these just require a changing positions in some of my tables, but it is more complicated than that. The line up issues are going to take a little while longer to dig through.

On with the simulations!!

AustinChief 06-28-2012 09:53 PM

Why did Matt Cassel start in my last game instead of Andy Dalton? Dalton should have been available... but instead Cassel played and just like in real life... was awful.

I probably would have lost anyway.. but damn, having Cassel in just killed me!

Hammock Parties 06-28-2012 10:08 PM

Holy SHIT. I CRUSHED Rain Man.

How the hell did that happen.

I made several radical changes in my lineup and gameplan...I wonder if they had any effect.

Hammock Parties 06-28-2012 10:13 PM

Somehow Ricky Williams got 31 carries in my game. WHAT? LOL

And he's now listed as my starter.

CONFUSED

In fact, there are several lineup changes in effect now that I didn't authorize.

My best guess...

The way it is set now, if you do not at least point your browser to your lineup page for more that 1 league week, a bot takes over the management of your lineup.

I need to make it so that if you look at any of your line up, game planning, standings, or schedule, that it logs you in as active. I'll do that now.

My simulator says that Scott Pioli is a bot. Wow, this thing is scary accurate.

cdcox 06-28-2012 10:27 PM

More info. Somehow league 1 got set to league week 8 and many active players show that they have been inactive for 3 weeks. I must have inadvertently hit the advance week link for league 1 a couple extra times, but I'm not sure how that happened. Grrrr.
