But even with increased attendance and related revenue, the TV contract still limits them. So, even if we get to $125M payroll (near the top 10 in the league), Cueto at $150M is $25M/year or more. That's 20% of your payroll on one guy. Not realistic.

They did not have $20 BILLION cable TV contracts 25 years ago. Money that the team gets to keep and not share a penny with any other team.

It doesn't guarantee success, just allows you to recover from mistakes faster and allows you to gamble on players.
