If we can draft a QB in the 1st next year and use Orton as a stop gap I am fine with that. If we draft a QB next year and use Orton as a backup I am fine with that as well.

I don't mind this. As long as this is just a current season fix. If there is a contract extension I will s*** a brick. But we all agree that the draft is crap shoot, right? Why not buy an extra roll with 2.5 million dollars? It's not my money, but there is a slight chance we get someone worth a damn with that compensatory pick. The increase in odds is worth the pickup IMO.

If you want Orton to be the stopgap next year, sign him in the offseason.
