Hell, I don't know if it's a bad thing though. His first hire in Cleveland was horrendous. If I were a GM, I'd want to make sure he hires someone well qualified. For example, Pioli wanted to keep Gailey but Haley didn't want it. Pioli probably pushed Haley to bring in Weis. Muir sounded like more of a power grab for Haley than anything.
I'd want to ensure Crennel doesn't promote Carthon or something dumb like that. As well, if I am Pioli, I'd like to get a guy running the offense who will basically be a head coach in waiting/training since RAC is 64 and going to focus on the defense. So it is a key, key hire, and will likely determine how successful the RAC era is. The big thing for RAC is that he needs to be able to work with whoever it is...
