Thanks. Glad to hear your children are hale and hearty; there is a special place for caring mothers.

What if the kid is seven, and in 1st grade?

What if this 1st grader talks about this in school like its something that every 1st grader does?

Little kids like to make fun.

Well that's a whole different monster. Kids, and people in general, are cruel. They're going to make fun and some kids are going to be outcasts for a whole lot of different reasons. It's just a fact of life. I'm sure everyone in here was verbally bullied at some point in their lives. For that, I see no reason to mold your life to accomodate other people's views and beliefs. As long as you're not harming anyone, then it's really no biggie.

To the people that argue that it'll mess up the kids head and independence: that's pretty laughable as well. I've been on this board a long time and I know a lot of you have kids; I'm amazed that you all can think so shallow. What works for one kid doesn't always work for another. By now, I'd think most of you should have realized that there's no master blueprint on how to raise a perfect child. Until you can find me some reliable research that proves breastfeeding past the age of 3 actually has serious life-threatening/hindering implications, I'm not going to bother worrying about what someone else wants to do with their own child.

Thank you very much. That's one of the first truly nice things anyone has said since this whole Time magazine mess broke.

Good for you. Never have I advocated otherwise.

If you describe your childs age in years instead of months, it's time to take the tit out of their mouth.

This

Most logical post of the thread.

The mortality rate of children breastfed past the age of 2 is 100 percent. Fact.

Now that's funny. And true.

Donger 05-11-2012 02:26 PM

While I do think some mothers tend to attention whore while breastfeeding (like the mother on the cover), I think they are definitely in the vast minority. When our critters were breastfeeding, my wife would always have some milk with her to feed the critters, and if she forgot and the kid was going nuts in public, she'd find a quiet corner and had one of those blanket things to put over the kid and her milk jugs.

While I pretended to masturbate to make her laugh.

Now that's even funnier. I'll have to use that one.

I think we need to distinguish what we are all talking about.

Babies, say less than 18 months, I have no issue with a mother breast feeding in front of me - nor doing it in public. Doesn't bother me.

Toddlers, kids that can walk & talk & ask for breast, that's a bit extreme to me to do that in public. And it's not the exposed breast itself that makes it an uncomfortable situation, it's the 3-4 year old still breast feeding.

.

If she’s going to whip it out in public she’d better have brought enough for everyone.

Nope.

The cool thing is, Colorado state law agrees with me.

State law can say whatever it wants to, but if you're still sucking moms tit at an age where you'll remember it when you're 30... thats weird, thats crap.

Completely unnecessary at that age, the've had PLENTY of time before then to acquire all of the beneficial antibodies.
