If Jason Avant is gonna make or break this season, we've got bigger problems

Al Bundy 03-10-2014 06:28 PM

So.. he sucks? lol

@LyleGraversen: .@emceereach Avg the past 4 seasons:

YPR catches your eye. Other than that, Avant would be just a, let's see what he's got, signing.

If you could get that out of your 4 best wr, I'd say that's pretty solid

If last year taught us anything, it's that free agency for Dorsey is about plugging holes with solid, but not amazing veterans.

I don't think Avant would prevent us from taking a WR in the first round.

Dex could fill a lot of roles, was dependable, and played hard. Maybe not exceptional at anything, but he was respectable at a lot of things. I don't think he's easily replaced, but I also don't think he's worth getting into a bidding war for.

Best of luck Dex.

Average receiving first downs per game:

Avant: 1.92
McCluster: 1.33

Now we wait for some nimrod to say "Avant is as explosive."

I seem to remember Avant having very questionable hands.

Smith prefers throwing to the slot guy vs throwing to the #2 WR in this offense. Get him Cooks in the 1st, because Beckham may not be there, and call it a day. Cooks could have the same amount of production as Kendall Wright from the slot in his rookie year. He's even faster and more explosive than Wright as well. He'll take advantage of all of the 1-on-1 off-coverage that McCluster failed to take advantage of.

You remember wrong. Was one of the best possession 3rd down receivers when Reid was in Philly with him.

It would be interesting to see some sort of 3rd down targets percentage.

Yeah I can't say I know a ton about his play in Philly. Seems like he had stone hands in college and dropped everything at the combine.

Avant actually started having a problem with drops in crucial situations. He made some insane grabs but also had mind-boggling drops.

I agree except Id be willing to over pay him a bit to keep him.
