I've found that best case with Glioblastoma, is 15 years. And that is rare. Age does play a huge factor. I'll be 45 next month, so that helps a lot. 60+ and the prognosis is not good.

If I get 10 more years, I can deal with that because I'll at least get to see my son graduate college. :D

My aspirational goal back in 1993* was to outlive my dog (he died 10 years ago), to see my daughters graduate HS (the youngest is a freshman in college now), and to see the Chiefs win the SB. I'm worried that the Chiefs could finally do it. :)

* speaking of the Chiefs, I remember being in a hospital bed at the Mayo Clinic in 1994 waiting for a major surgery the next day, watching Joe Montana and the Chiefs lose to Buffalo in the playoffs. I never dreamed it would be over 20 years before they won another playoff game.

How do we know that you didn't die 20 years ago, and are now just a Zombie feeding on human flesh?

So, the cancer docs I met with yesterday gave me a real tasty shit burger to chew on:

Super fun rare type of tumor that, at worst, is a 1 to 4 year deal; at best about 10-ish with repeated chemo/radiation/removal.

Kinda weird going from what I was feeling/considering the best shape of my life to having 1 to 4 years left on the meter in about a week and a half.

Side note, grocery store crowds at 4:00 in the afternoon are really weird. That's a strange group of people.

Well...heck. I don't know what to say, other than do whatever patteeu does since he seems to have it down.

Good luck to you, and we'll all hope for the best.

I'm not sure that's the best advice you could be giving. I'm doing something wrong or I'd be hanging out with all the stars like DaneMcCloud does. :)

Damn dude, sorry to hear.

Fight it all the way, docs don't always know.

They said my daughter would be lucky to live a week when she was born.

She is 14 now...

Shit man. That reminds me again that my problems are little league.

The doctors numbers are averages I believe. And we've all heard of the guy that got the news and died a week later. Those dudes drag down the average. And every passing day they get better at treatment. Keep your head up man.

All the best. Seriously.

Lonewolf Ed 09-16-2015 07:01 PM

I am sorry to see the bad news you got. Hopefully, the docs are wrong. They do try to "cheer" you up saying that new cures are always being researched and something may happen in the next year, but that is a pretty thin straw to grasp at. I've gotten the same one myself with the liver cancer cures on the horizon. Whatever happens, live well and live well as long as you can.
