And Trent didn't pick up 90% of his yards throwing sideline to sideline. I can't believe we're even having this discussion. Other than Montana and Dawson Trent was the best QB this team has ever had.

How productive would Green have been behind the lines that Smith has been playing behind?

We could play that game all day. How productive would Alex have been playing in a league where QB's and WR's weren't coddled by the league and could actually be hit?

I'm not Clay, I actually like Alex and acknowledge that he's our best option and I was wrong when I thought trading for him was a huge mistake. But comparing him to Green is laughable.

That's the point though.

There's no way that Smith would have been nearly as productive in Saunders system as Green.

But Green, without the protection that line provided, would be productive playing behind the garbage that Smith has been playing behind.

I don't even disagree that Green is the best QB not named Dawson for this team, and would argue that he was better than Montana for this team.

I am just pointing out that Green did have that advantage.

I loved Trent Green as the Chiefs QB but he had more than just a great O line. He also had Tony Richardson and Jason Dunn to block and he had Gonzo to throw the ball to. He had a huge advantage over what Alex Smith has had. Maclin and Kelce are quality guys but Gonzo was unstoppable for the most part making catches with guys draped all over him. Gonzo was a game changer for Trent Green.

You also have to understand that many of the balls that Gonzo pulled down from Green are passes that Alex Smith would have never attempted.

I didn't like Aikman either, but worse than MC? You are high.

Maybe true but Gonzo was so good that Alex might have thrown the ball into tighter coverage if he was throwing to him. Either side of that is just speculation.

The comparison was funny.

Another excellent job, Flopnuts.

This thread brought out an exceptional amount of stupid from the masses.

If you're expecting stupid, is it really an incredible amount?

I love the part where it's always "the team fell short" with these transplanted nut-huggers when the Chiefs lose, but when Smith pulls the magical 8-ball game of the ages from his ass, it's "See(?) he was elite all along! Get on board"!

I don't care if you win.

I don't care if you lose.

But make no mistake; the enjoyment lies in watching the Pimps of Mediocrity eat big ol' shit sandwiches and Uncle Sweets kitchen is fired-up, the grill is warming, and a big basket of turd-fries are being dropped in to the hopper as we speak.

Bon appe'tit.

So, are they eating shit sandwiches or turd fries? Or is it a shit sandwich with a side of turd fries? How much is the combination plate?

Oh, and Uncle Sweets sounds like a pedophile.

a) It's both.
Variety is the spice of life. And since you've been getting none from your QB position for the last quarter century, I'm here to fill the hole in your soul.

b) Combo plate: $8.99. I'm cheaper than Gates! You can PayPal me direct.

c) If that be the case, sounds like Tigger Unclesucker will be my best customer!

Yay me!

You mean like Kurt Warner. A product of "The Greatest Show on Turf" offense. Green was not nearly as productive as Warner in that same offense.
When Green had a less than All Pro OL at all positions he was given the moniker of TrINT because his play was so atrocious. Green never even won a playoff game in that offense.
They are different types of QBs that played in different offensive schemes but Green was in that same offense for most of his entire career. He never had to go through the coordinator, head coach carousel that Smith has had to endure.

Greens first three years with the Chiefs 11,512 yards 67 TD 49 INT
Smiths first three years with the Chiefs 10,064 yards 61 TD 20 INT

Oh yeah Green was such a better QB than Smith. He did so much more while being in the most prolific offense that the NFL has probably ever seen.
