Wow. That's a total dick move to announce this late into the hiring cycle.

Listening to Bills fans, this is a blessing in disguise. I think many are tired of him at this point.

Tired of having the best defense in the league?

After :13 seconds they've wanted him gone.

If I was a Bills fan, I'd probably feel the same way.

Except when it matters, such as the playoffs.

Until the playoffs...

Yeah. I think the Jags have a better 2023 trajectory than the Bills

Frazier is McDermott’s scapegoat. McDermott was a DC for a long time and he controls the Buffalo defense just like Andy Reid controls the KC offense.

He knows they don't have the horses.

Look, I totally buy that certain offensive systems and play-callers have a huge effect on whether that offense is successful or not.

I don't think it's as big of an effect on a defense. If you look at all of the great defenses, they have great talent. Period. Defense is a more visceral thing.

Even the Bears 46 defense was named after a safety (Fencik, I think it was?), and worked primarily because of 1)a dominant pass rush and 2) the particular abilities of specific players. Same with the Tampa 2. Same with the 2000 Ravens. It goes on, and on.

The Bills defense looked really good until Von Miller got hurt and other injuries piled up.

Frazier knows they're not going to be as good this year, and if they tank, it hurts his career opportunities.

Sounds like maybe their window is closed at least temporarily

As crazy as it sounds I think the Bills, especially the defense depends on Von Miller.

With Miller they had a very good defense. Without him it was straight trash. They couldn't generate pressure at all.

Considering he's about to turn 34 coming off an ACL tear (in the same knee) it just doesn't bode well for them.

He's just as culpable for the Bills declining roster. His drafting has been really bad recently.

Frazier’s contract expired at the end of this month. I think he was nudged out the door. They are putting a spin on it by claiming he is “choosing” to leave. I think they were pretty healthy in earlier years when Mahomes dropped 38 & 42 on them in the Playoffs. Those Buffalo defenses in 2020 & 2021 were highly ranked in the regular season.
