I agree. The highlights look pretty impressive. Why wasn't he drafted?

I asked ChatGPT:

Jake Briningstool, the former Clemson tight end, went undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft primarily due to concerns about his blocking abilities, physical attributes, and overall athletic profile.

Reasons for Going Undrafted
1. Blocking Limitations: Briningstool struggled as an in-line blocker, often being overpowered by stronger defenders. His effectiveness was more pronounced when flexed out against smaller defenders, but he lacked the strength and technique required for consistent blocking at the NFL level .
2. Physical Concerns: At 6’5” and 241 pounds, he possessed a lean frame for the tight end position. Additionally, his hand size measured under 9 inches, raising concerns about his ability to secure catches in traffic .
3. Athletic Testing: Briningstool did not participate in key athletic drills at the NFL Combine, leaving teams without measurable data to assess his speed, agility, and explosiveness .
4. Contested Catch Challenges: While he was a reliable target in open space, Briningstool had difficulty securing contested catches, coming down with less than 50% of such opportunities during his college career.

Briningstool is like 3” taller than Noah Gray and was a much more productive college player.

Thanks Dante84.

It was a "highlight" reel, but he did look pretty athletic and he did make a few contested catches. Still might be an interesting signing to keep an eye on this summer.

And even his dumbass could return kicks!

Mismatch on linebackers, catch radius advantage on most defenders, good straight line speed, made plenty of contested catches on these highlights.

He’s going to push for TE3 real fast IMO.
